Putting all the Blame on the Front Office is Disingenuous

I'm just looking over the Goff extension and deal. One that was being questioned when it was signed just a few months ago. In terms of finances, the Rams have their quarterback signed for the next 5 years and at no point is the cap charge over this year where they're paying $36 million. Los Angeles takes their lumps this year and then has him signed for 5 years with little to no money locked in. Heck, they could cut him after the season with just a $15 million cap hit of things really went badly.

Anyone think we're now going to get a deal like that with Prescott? Anyone? Anyone?

Great example of being forward thinking. Too many fans look at what it’s going to take to sign Dak and think it’s too much, but that price will not be stabilizing or going down for Dak or any other starting QB on a second contract.

Not gonna go through and quote people’s posts or anything but I’ve gotten the sense that some posters feel like the situation with Dak/Coop’s contracts is business as usual, when business as usual would be signing them as the FO usually does. Whether the deals are good or not is to be seen, but it’s too early to freak out, especially with the teams history of signing it’s top guys.

So we have another example of someone railing against imaginary enemies and claims that they can't even support?

These negotiating circumstances are also super unique, the extreme hardball plus CBA isn’t an easy thing to figure out. Especially when you have enigmatic players like Dak and Coop. Neither are a homerun for a blank check yet both are too good to let walk.

Eagles got it done with their quarterback.

Rams got it done with theirs.

Cowboys failed.

I'd be more willing to buy into this if not for the fact this front office typically trips over their own schlong at this time.

So until proven otherwise, I think it's safe to assume the front office, at least, bears a bit of responsibility here.

I would give the F.O. 75% of the blame for not getting these deals done so far. (Dak and Cooper). They always try to wait till the last possible minute to put the players rep. up against the proverbial wall. They have given Dak's agent France, the leverage by constantly saying they are not letting Dak go and will sign him as if he's family. They have now painted themselves into a corner, but we also don't know how preposterous France's counter-offer (demands have been) If its an outrageous sum - say 40 million per, then I can see why they have not reached a deal.
I can see this now going all the way till July 15th - the final deadline, and Dak not showing up for any off-season training.
That is a lose lose for this club. And will be for both sides. (Also, this gives Coopers agent's more leverage now that the franchise tag has been used on Dak, it's sign me now, or I walk.....

No it won't. And now they've missed their window to even get those prices.

Instead, the Jones boys tried to insult Prescott and his agent with that "$24-$25 million a season" garbage that they offered prior to the start of last season. That insult was then met with an equally ridiculous "demand for $40 million" and the end of talks. Which leads all of us to where we are now. Where they will be lucky to sign him for less than $35 million a year and Jerry and son will then be lying to everyone and trying to sell it as some great deal that they pulled off. Of course the suckers will lap it up.

Goff owes his career to McVay, I don’t think any of these agents played nearly the amount of hardball Daks been playing. Judging on the reports that came out of those negotiations and the ones coming out of this one.

Including those "reports" about Dak being offered $24-$25 million while Wentz and Goff were being paid $34 million a year? Are those included to?

Goff and Wentz were also apples and oranges because they were picked so high in the draft. Both guys had signing bonuses that were several times what Dak has been paid to date for his entire career.
