I am not of the belief that Owens is this powder keg waiting to be detonated, but I do think it will be interesting to see how Todd Haley and Owens get along. I don't think Owens will be telling Haley that he will not speak to him, but I also don't think Haley will be challenging Owens to any fistfights, as he did with Zuriel Smith two summers ago.

Should be interesting to see these two personalities work together. We have seen that Haley plays no favorites when going after guys in WR drills, as evidenced by his tirades to Keyshawn on occasion during last year's camp.

You know, a Skins fan asked me yesterday if I was getting my popcorn ready and I told him I was getting my bucket ready:puke:

That comment alone is enough to seal the deal.

TO thinks HE is the show.

What a piece of work.

You guys are nuts!!!!

It's about the "show"....

Not winning.

But the show.

And people have the nerve to compare Owens to Michael Irvin.

OY.

Michael Irvin had a TON of problems...and he was one flamboyant guy...but it was NEVER about the show and ALWAYS about winning.

Owens = Irvin Lite

I agree with you, but in fairness, while Irvin was about winning, the Show certainly wasn't too far behind. He enjoyed the spotlight as much as anyone, and still does.

And I think Owens understands that the best entertainment is winning. He's not a Moss who will dog plays he's not involved in, and for the most part is a hard worker even in practice, when there's no Show involved.

Like I said, overall I agree with you, but there are shades of grey here.

Well, let's see what happens. I am willing to think people can change....I just can't see it in this case.

Irvin, in a zillion years, at a press conference for a signing of that magnitude, would never have talked about the "show" and then a couple of days later released the song that Owens did AND a book (after saying he wanted to move on and not discuss the past)

Bad start for Mr Owens.

Today's NFL, it's all about winning...and the end justifying the means...

Hey...Landry broke a ton of rules for Duane Thomas because he could help the team win...but there is just that "jerk" factor about Owens that is beyond anything I've ever seen from a Cowboy player.

Agreed all around.

But then again I fail to see how drugs and prostitutes were 'all about winning' either. Getting arrested or suspended would have been devastating, even to the 90's Cowboys.

And Keyshawn (a guy right in the mold of these other two) is not wearing a star right now because he flat out refused to play with his current contract. So much for Bill being the only coach he would play for, or just wanting to win.

Now if I'm going to war, I'd take Irvin in my foxhole every day and twice on Sunday over Owens (or Keyshawn), i'm just saying Irvin spent just as much time on the sidelines *****ing to Troy about not throwing him the ball as Owens will do to Bledsoe. They are variations of the same creature (which is probably why they are such good friends).

Irvin likes the spotlight because he likes attention, he is very charasmatic and a very social person. he loves himsef in a good way, and he loves people. he likes to express himself, he's an extroverted personality.

TO likes attention too, but he doesnt seem to care if its positive or negative attention as long as someone's talking about him. TO seems to love himself in a narcistic sort of way and im not sure that he really cares so much about other people. TO talks a lot, but does he ever say a whole lot about himself or who he is ?

Michael will sit down and open up get very personal and share a lot of personal things with people during an interview. Thats a lot different than continually talking about how great you are.

Exactly.

Last week, when it was apparent that Owens would be a Cowboy, a buddy and I were talking about Haley vs. Owens.

This should be fun to watch.
