Just looking at the SIGNED QB's in CAP $$$$ for the Cowboys and the NFL for 2018.

We are the lowest in CAP at the QB position with Dak and Rush signed for 2018. Even the Browns and the Jets have or are going to pay more for QB's in 2018 than the Cowboys.

There are other teams without a QB of note SIGNED for 2018 - Most notably Minnesota, New Orleans and San Francisco.

So we are in good shape with QB CAP $$$$ till 2020.

It would be wise to offer Dak an extension after 2018.....this would give him big money a year early for a discount and would add another year to pro-rate his signing bonus

I would offer 4yr/60m extension next year but guarantee the whole 60m with a 25m signing bonus
That would give him a cap hit of 6m for 2019

If they wait until after 2019 then the talk of the Franchise Tag comes into play like Cousins and that is a messy road and sets his salary floor at 22m+ going forward
