QB contingency plan 2006

There has been quite a bit of talk about SD and Brees or Rivers. So my question is if we cut a deal for Rivers do we then have David Lee try to correct his mechanics? I think I know the consensus opinion around here but what will Parcells and Sean Payton have to say about it?

I would pass on both Rivers and Brees. Brees has a weak arm and can not throw deep good. Rivers mechanics are worse then Hensons ever were by alot.

People in here who think Romo lacks arm strenght(they are wrong Romo DOES have a strong arm) would really not like Rivers or Brees. Romo has them both beat in arm strength. Romo is alot more athletic and mobile then Rivers.

I would rather take my chances with Romo or Henson.

Drew Bledsoe is the Starting QB in 2005 AND 2006 barring injury...

Write it down...

And for everyone who thinks that is a BAD thing....Let's see if you still feel that way in December..................

While I do like Romo, Brees can throw the deep ball better than Romo.

And Rivers has more arm strength than either of them

I wouldnt mind trying to trade for Rivers as long as he gets a new contract, which probably isnt likely. However he has a chance to be a "Franchise" QB which volek and schaub imo will never be. Sometimes you gotta take that risk, but I think it'd be a lot easier to just use our first round pick next year on a QB. There's only so long we can wait on Henson before we get another backup plan. Romo's never gonna start, hes a career starter, and Bledsoe has at best 2 years left, maybe even 1.

this is the answer.

Omar Jacobs would be amazing for the team, gotta love those MAC Qb's ( I think thats the MAC). Anyways, we have a solid chance of getting a pretty high pick next year, we will most likely know by next year whether or not we need some new blood in at QB or if Henson will be the future starter.

its funny how people are just throwing drew henson out the door. guys, hes going to take at least 3-4 years to get good again, hes like a rookie only worse. he aint even touched a football in god knows how many years. give the guy a break and let him become that franchise qb we are all looking for. trust me hes worth the wait and he will be better than any qb the nfl has ever seen, i promise you that.

I have high hopes, but I'll never go that far.

I'm hoping he becomes a solid starter, that plays within himself, limits mistakes, and can carry the team when needed.

It's gonna take a while for him to develop, we all know that. at the same time, we cant wait 4 years, with no other option at QB and then have Henson not be the future. That's what we did when Aikman was nearing the end of his career, we did nothing about it, and its destroyed our team for the past 5+ seasons. We cant wait forever for Henson to become the starter without some other options. That's setting us up for failure and a few years of losing

How do you know he will be the franchise QB? are you a professional scout? ex pro QB? some kind of coach/assistant with the Cowboys?

whats a few more years of losing when you can embark of a decade of winning with henson? just give it time..

i told my girlfriend during that half of bears game that henson played last year... that i was seening flashes of greatness in him. his leadership might just be the best i've ever seen, granted im not real old but man this is something special here.. trust me.

The same way others say he's a bust, it's an opinion. We have not seen enough to know either way.

For the long term good of the franchise, which opinion is better?;)

sorry not yours, you posted while i was typing, the above post is the one im talking about.

We have no idea what will happen with Henson, but are we going to keep signing 35 year old guys forever in hopes that someday Henson will be the Man? At some point we are going to have to bring in some young guys. and this next year is gonna be that time. If Henson is still a question mark at the end of this season, we dont necessarily have to give up on him, but were gonna have to bring a young guy in, maybe even if were lucky get a real Franchise QB type like Omar Jacobs.

But anyone we draft is still a project, that may not ever work out or take 3-4 years to work out.

I think what we do depends much more on Romo at this point. If he continues to make strides and looks like he can be a starter or at worst a steady back up, we have more time. If not, I think we'll draft a QB 3rd round or later.

If with the adjusted motion Henson is, what we have been hearing, basically a rookie, he would have a leg up on any rookie QB we bring in via the draft. He had franchise potential before the layoff, so I think it's stupid to start the entire process over until we have another year of development.

Maybe Brees has more accuracy on the long ball but he can not throw as hard as Romo. With Rivers the scouting reports questioned his arm strength and some reports had him listed as below average others average.

If it comes to needing to rifle the ball to a WR the Romo has both them beat cuz he throws harder then both of them.

Some people dont realize that yeah Romo does have a strong arm. Just not as strong as Henson. And I think cuz of that people think Romo doesnt have a strong arm.

I bet if you were to line up Romo Rivers and Brees and have them gun the ball 35 yards to a target Romos would get their first.
