It's the 2021 NFL offseason and it's an all out draft. Every player is allocated to the draft pool. The first round is running and you are only allowed to draft a QB. Only guys who played last season are available and are available at their current ages and guys who are available in the draft this season. What is your QB draft list. Who do you think gives you the best chance to lead your team to the super bowl in 2021?

Strictly first round QBs only so the rest of the team is not built yet

There are multiple QBs on that list who stand a great chance of taking us to the Super Bowl depending on the team that is built around them. The only real question we can answer here is who is the best quarterback.

Joe Flacco "led" his team to the Super Bowl and was even MVP of the game, but I don't think anyone would be picking him first on this list. Jared Goff "led" his team to the Super Bowl, but same for him.

If I'm going to build a team around a quarterback, right now that quarterback would be Mahomes, but if I don't build a team like Kansas City's, I don't expect him to be able to lead me to a Super Bowl.

This will come as shocking news to some folks here, who think QBs win/lose games all by themselves.

QB's can affect the outcome of games and some can do more with less and some need a little bit more and some need a whole lot to be successful. This last category is the type you don't want because in the modern day NFL you cannot do this at least not without ensuring that the QB understand that he needs a lot around him. Dak Prescott is one such QB, needs a lot around him, but he seems to be clueless about this.

So how did not having a lot around him work for Mahomes in the Super Bowl? No quarterback succeeds if the team fails. The idea of a quarterback carrying a team is a fallacy. When it is said that one did that, it doesn't take into consideration that the defense had to get a stop or hold the other team to a field goal. It doesn't take into consideration that someone(s) has to make the block to give him time to throw. It doesn't take into consideration that someone had to get open and make the catch. That's why football is one of the ultimate team games.

I understand that there are different levels of quarterbacks, but there are a lot of quarterbacks on various levels who have won a Super Bowl because of the team they were on. Or do you believe Nick Foles is a great quarterback or others who have gotten to the big game recently like Jared Goff or Jimmy Garappolo? These players are not better than Prescott; they were just on better teams.

Aikman WAS one such QB, that needed a lot around him. Did nothing after 1995.

I never said they do. Merely pointed out that some can do better than others with less. Mahomes had a team that got him to the Super Bowl, they encountered a TB team that was healthier. But let's not pretend that Dak Prescott would have done better. In fact he has shown that he is incapable of making do when he does not have top flight receivers or even a good RB. Forget about if he loses any one of this tackles.

How'd Aikman do without Irvin & Emmitt?

Hard to tell since the Cowboys were being built from scratch. Could Aikman have done what he did without Irvin or Emmitt? Maybe. But it's certain that he couldn't do it without literally anything on the team and without a better defense.

All thing equal I take:

Brady, mahomes, Rogers, Wilson, Dak.
Whether trolls want to admit it or not, dak is top 5. Looking at two years down the road he is top 3.
Dak trolls have never looked so silly. Too much shame.
