QB rating is the single most useless individual stat that the NFL tracks.

JMO

That completely explains your opinions on our QB's past 2 years in a nutshell.

Way to go Hos.

You are owned on a stupid statement. QB rating is worthless? OK -

So lets start slinging mud and take it off topic. Lets not measure a QB on efficiencies and production. Shoot - that be silly

owned? dude, even if you had perfect credit, took our your 401k early, sold your car, and were involved in drug trafficing in the late 80's and saved your money, you couldn't even "rent" hos - so drop the "yes i'm still in jr high regardless of my drug selling history" need to "own" someone and get back to work on funny.

unless that was it - in which case, go back to laughing smileys.

qb ratings are what they are - a stat. they can mean just about anything at all and usually people want them to mean what they want to prove.

There seems to be a great deal of respect out there for Troy Aikman's rating system for QBs. Having read about it once last year, I don't remember how it works, but I do know several knowledgeable people around the NFL support it.

now, as for a qb rating system - again. we need *something* to indicate overall play of a qb. the trouble is, no matter how "in depth" you go with it, someone else will always feel there isn't enough, their "stance" isn't considered, or that other factors are involved the "stat" can't count and that's very true. that's why i'd call it more or less say it's used in useless arguments more than useful ones and in the end, it's JUST A STAT.

aikmans is a bit more in depth and given his experience at the position, i tend to like it a bit better. however, it's still "just a stat" and as i learned back in high school:

there are lies, there are damned lies, and there are statistics. using it for anything much more than a general guideline is dangerous when it's not your job to do it for a living as it will more often than not lead you to wrong conclusions. well, ones the person using the stat wants to push, which usually ends in mods going STOP IT when the hardheaded think it's more than - a stat.

It isn't a stupid statement but it doesn't surprise me that you think it is.

Tell me Nors, in all your football glory, do WCO teams have generally higher QB ratings?

A simple yes or no will do if you're capable of it.

By the way, if you say "No" be prepared for a schooling like you've never had.

If you say "Yes" then please excuse the Church Lady superiority dance image I'm going to post.

Checker this -

To say that the Passer rating system is useless is rediculous.

Already answered that bad boy but keep the cheap shops flowing. That is Sr Hedgling in spin mode usually...... Go take a nap.

Football is on - Panthers just scored, Skins intered Chargers and Tampa driving

A "yes" or "no" answer.

I realize it is a football question and therefore over your head. Pick one. I could care less because I've got plenty of evidence.

QB's naturally put up better numbers against weaker teams. Therefore, it seems to make sense to scale their rating by their opponents winning percentage. That is, if a QB has a 100 rating against undefeated teams, he'd have a 100 scaled rating.

Take Peyton Manning for example, his rating is about 105, but Indy's strength of schedule is only .370, the weakest of any team since 1998. So his scaled rating is:

105*.370= 38.9

Drew's rating is about 92, but Dallas strength of schedule is .505, so his rating is

92 * .505 = 46.6

Now when you look at his 75 rating for the last game against 9-2 Denver, his scaled rating is:

75 * .82 = 61.7

While on the rest of the season Drew's rating was 94.4 against 47-53 opponents or:

94.4 * .470 = 44.3

So while it may seem like his rating wasn't that good, it was one of his better performances when you consider the opponent.
Individual stats in team sports are a joke. No two players on different teams ever play against the same competition because of injuries, weather, opponents still in the playoff hunt or not or whatever. Looking at your stats shows Bledsoe to be a better qb than Manning. Which one would you like to have as your qb?

Good point. I bet you Nors won't call your logic silly though. I hope you don't feel bad about that sleight. I'll be waiting all day for a yes or no answer. He's looking it up on Google.

You need to get a clue.

To claim that passer rating is useless says it all.

All those guys on the bottom suck and the guys at the top are good. Its a very relevant rating of QB's.

Senior Hedgling - siesta time?
Are you scared to answer the question?

Does it make you soil your underoos?

Would you like a softer question?

Too bad. "Yes" or "no". Does the WCO pad QB stats?
