Image: QB Records When the Defense Allows 21+ Points

No bias, I didn't really pay attention to who was where. As soon as I saw the graphic, it struck me as it doesn't mean a lot because it's too broad to draw causation. That's all...don't read too much into it.
I think people read too much into things even when I'm intentionally vague because I have no agenda with my original comment.

I see stat charts all the time but they usually offer no relevance beyond wins and losses, but this chart showed that most of the top quarterbacks have found success in the playoffs despite their defenses giving up 21+ points.

Thrown for the most yards ever in first 16 games. 65.4 comp % & 97.3 rating.

Overall he's had the most prolific start to his career in NFL history. More rushing yards to in the first 6 seasons.

He's widely considered to be an elite talent.

Those are the things HE's done that Dak hasn't.
So basically you’re a stats over results guy

Yep, this chart shows why cowboys typically have lost to great Qb's on other teams, Our boy Dak just isn't as good when we need him most.. I love Dak, but facts are facts..
See, I interpret this chart differently.

I thought be would be lower, but Dak seems pretty well clustered with what we would broadly consider the better/best QBs in the league at the moment. If you also look at the volume of starts for each player where the defense has given up 21+, Dak has more than everyone in the top 10 but Goff and Rodgers.

Full on hit the screaming brakes...

Yes they do.

You'll see qb win loss record in almost every single article on any qb.

Just the way it is.

I know you want to take the high road....but just not the reality of things.

We all know Dan Marino never won a super bowl. Who was the right tackle?

Just the way it is.
The reality is everytime someone tries to make that a QB stat, it's stupid and an insult to the game and non-QBs.

People can label it as a stat all they want, but it will always be nonsense.

Welcome to face value stats 101. Looks good on paper but is meaningless without the bigger picture.

Now break in down to lots of things such as offense rankings, OL rankings, WR duos, defense turnovers is also huge in this and etc

I think it depends on what they are doing with it. You KNOW we read IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA....."hommmes is 3-5 against AFC, Marino was 0-1 in super bowl..."

And come on you know what's what. Acting all offended about is ,,,,kareny.

QBs are the highpaid leader hotshots. Comes with a price. Never about just dak.

funny, Dak is the 9th best qb when his team gives up21 or more points....not Dak sucks.

Let's put this in perspective:

Only one quarterback out of these 39 past and/or present starters have a winning record under this condition.

Dak is ranked 9th out of the 39 meaning that he is in the top ten or top 25%.

Dak is ranked higher than 3 Super Bowl champions and 9 QBs drafted #1 overall.

Those are the statistical facts that should be acknowledged before any criticism of Dak.

Recognizing that something is stupid and illogical is not being offended.

Yes, they're the highest paid. Football is still a team sport.
Yes, they're the most important individual position. Football is still a team sport and all the other positions combined dwarf the QB's importance.

There is never a good use of putting W/L on a QB.

It's not a good stat for pitchers in baseball, it's outright idiotic in football.

Just because idiots in the media and elsewhere act like it's important doesn't mean we have to acknowledge and validate the stupidity.

I guess Dak is better than Burrow, Stafford and..... Herbert then
Herbert yes, Stafford had to suffer through the Detroit years and Burrow, well lets just say I know this article says defense gives up 21 but Cincy more like their defense gi es up 30 on avg

If you really think about it, that stat and chart is really telling.
All it tells me is what we've been saying for a long time: when your defense gives up 20-plus points, it's difficult for any quarterback to succeed, even if the offense is solid. In big games and the playoffs, a lack of a running game, an offensive line committing multiple penalties, and receivers struggling to get separation all compound the problem. There’s a lot that goes into it beyond just the quarterback’s performance.

that's why we usually just say it's a team effort. It always comes down to being the best team on the field. You don't need to have all the superstars; having solid depth can make a team just as competitive. ITS A TEAM GAME!!

That's what I noticed last year in the playoffs, especially in the Super Bowl, two teams built for depth with strong overall rosters but without many superstars. They could lose a few players, yet the next ones stepped in at nearly the same level.

Looking at that chart, every team has a losing record if their defense allows more than 21 points. That's why having a strong defense is crucial.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, keeping opponents under 20 points gives you a much better chance to win. Teams like Ravens a few times or even the Bears in past years, didn't rely on a great offense, they just needed to score enough and let the defense handle the rest, without putting all the pressure on the quarterback.

Some interesting stats on here

I’m starting to think this Mahomes kid is pretty good
Now I'm interested in seeing the chart when your defense gives 31 or more points a game..lol We saw that last year and somehow somebody on here I'm concerned about the offense really be concerned about defense giving up 11 more points that we see on this chart 11 I think that's what one of the best defense in the league only gave up per game in the history of the NFL one of those great defense that won a Super Bowl with an average quarterback..

To make sure people understand how much more 10 plus homes to get above this chart really looks like, it has the Cowboys winning seven games was a damn miracle ,

That's how good the O was..

One quarterback/team did have a winning record .. Mahomes and the Chiefs

The truth is though, some quarterbacks can overcome bad defenses, while some can only do it sometimes.

That said, I agree with you and have long tried explaining to people that the Cowboys defense has more often than not been the reason they lost in the playoffs, often near the end of the game when they were simply unable to stop the other team when it mattered most.

I would love to see the same chart but only for playoff games.

Last year accounts for a lot being they allowed more 21 or more in 16 of 17 games
