Was just listening to the Ticket. . . and they said that Dante Culpepper is available via trade????

The asking price is a 1st and a 4th round pick - he's 26 years old and coming back from injury.

8 years remaining on his contract. Only catch is that he has to stay away from White Rock Lake. . .

I'll hang up and listen. . .

P.S. with our OL in flux, I'm thinking that we REALLY need to have a mobile QB when the rush comes in. So IF this happens, will we welcome him? Or is this a bad idea?

He's under 30 and not a former Baseball player?

Sure why not!

I would not do that trade. he is the type of QB that we need with the OL we have, a Qb that can scramble but he has sucked without Moss. Moss would make Bledsoe like god if he were on our team. Although if we could lower the 1st round demand then I would take a chance on him

i'd rather trade a mid #1 for a guy like Culpepper than trade up for a rookie that would take 2-3 years to learn to play football. that said i'd rather shore up our OL, draft a playmaking WR then worry about QB next offseason.

I would make that trade in half a second!

Guys who think he was just Moss are comepletely wrong.

I would be surprised if he was really able to be had for just that though.

Yes, I heard QB shuffle is even a more popular game than football. Let's play it.

I'm not sold that it's ALL Randy Moss up there. We've only gotten to see what that looks like for what, 4 - 6 games? I agree with INXS - not enough time.

chinch I think you're dead on re: the 2 - 3 year learning curve for a rookie. If we have to do it, fine. But I'd rather not right now with the age of our team.

But in one offseason we CANNOT shore up our OL. Just can't. Too many holes at RT, RG, questions at C, depth at LT.

A playmaking WR is not going to be around for us to pluck in the 1st round b/c Parcells won't pick offense with our run D falling apart still flashing before his eyes.

That being said, I wouldn't mind having Drewby here another year if we had something on the bench. . .

. . . but do we?

P.S. the ESPN guys picks are as follows: Steve - CAR Mike - DAL Tom - CAR

Pre-knee injury, yes.

post-knee injury, not so sure...

I'd rather wait until how he recovers from the knee issues...

Culpepper has two things that he needs to prove next year if he hopes to have any future in the NFL:

1) The ability to overcome a very serious knee injury. The problem with this is he's being forced to rehab a multi-ligament tear. It's hard enough for an athlete to rehabilitate, say an acl reconstruction, but this is far more complicated than a simple acl - we're talking about a complete overhaul of his entire knee. For all of his ahtletic skills, I'm betting that there will be a major degradation to his scrambling skills and his ability to move around in the pocket. I just don't see him being a 100% by next season.

2) That he doesn't need a Randy Moss type receiver to be successfull. The knock on Randy has always been his attitude issues and the fact that he is constantly taking off from a few plays in every game. But his ability to catch just about any pass thrown in his general direction would make even the most journeyman of quarterbacks look like an all-pro. In the few games that Culpepper played this season without Moss, he looked absolutely horrible out there. He was making a lot of poor decisions while leading his team and had a hard time finding the open receiver. The endstate would be with him forcing a pass into double/triple coverage with either the pass winding up incomplete or (far worse) as an interception.

I'd say thanks but no thanks.
