We saw Cooper's limitations on full display last night.
Limited arm strength being weakness number one.
But, this guy was the back up QB and based on preseason play
far and away exceeded expectations.
He is a great fill in, not a lead dog.
But still, in a QB starved league, will get a nice contract this off season.

Now it's Dak time.
It's hard to know what kind of play to expect.
Are we going to get the first 6 games of last season Dak?
Or are we going to get the 49ers and Tampa Bay Dak?
Somewhere in between?

For the Cowboy's to be serious contenders this year we have to get solid QB play.
With Dak's contract we are tied to him for a couple of seasons so it's in our best interest for him
to excel.

I sense that the fanbase is losing it's patience with Dak.
If he does not play up to his contract I can see things getting ugly.

I hope he balls out.
Maybe he learned something during his down time?
Hopefully he will play within himself and not try and do too much?
It would be nice if they run a similiar offense that they have been running
as I think that's more suited to his game.

We shall see.
This is the story within the story of this version of the Dallas Cowboys.

Rush is a back up QB, for all the reasons you stated. No one is going to invest in him to be their starter.

I could see some team investing nice backup money in him if they have a QB who is a bit injury prone. Although, based on the last few seasons with Dak, I do wonder if that team shouldn't be the Cowboys.
wouldn't say NO ONE but limited suiters im sure.

Rush did about as well as you could hope for in Dak absence. My only problem with yesterdays game is that Coaching thought that he could throw us to victory. That's not on Rush.
we ran effectively 26-134 that over 5YPC, heck zeke had over 6YPC

what game did you watch when you get down 20 hard to just RUN.. you have to throw sorry but Rush had a solid OL and good run game.it was ON HIM and add penalty's dont help.

It's not about just running it's about using the run effectively, LIke we did his first 2 games were we used the run game to create space and protect Rush. Last night they called the game like he was Aaron Rogers. When its 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 1 you don't roll rush out and pass to keep the drive going. Zeke was averaging 6.2 per carry. How many times did we see Rush in an empty backfield? One time is too many as he's not that guy.

He's 4-1 and played better last night than Dakota did on opening night. So, give the guys the break. There was a lot that went wrong last night not the least of which was a defense that could not stop the run. That 8 minute , 75 yard drive killed the momentum our offense had built in the second half getting to within 3 points.

While I agree, I have seen desperate teams do some crazy things!
He will at least get a nice back up contract either here or somewhere else.
I would like to see him stay.

What Rush did well, until last night, was not give the game away. But the Cowboys are 28th in total yards, 28th in passing yards, 23rd in scoring and 29th in TOP. An offense that putrid is not going to win many games.

The Cowboys were 4-1 with Rush because of their defense that is giving up only 18.3 points per game and before last night was giving up just over 14 pts per game. This is basically the same offense that scored over 30 points per game last year with Dak.

Rush is a solid backup. He proved that. But he is not good enough to start. His deficiencies caught up with him last night. Not that teams have 5 games of film on him, he will struggle even more to move the offense.

I expect some rust
I hate the concept of not playing him in pre season so he’s had very few game reps
But Dak is light years better than cooper and even his biggest haters, if they were honest would admit he’s a really good QB. Even they were have to admit he’s in the top dozen QB’s in the league
And he was the only one of those we could have signed

Cowboys can't afford to lose sight of a winning formula. Run the ball and use play action off of the run, you have a great defense so no need to take great risk when you don't need to. Not expecting 400 yard passing game unless we are put in a situation where it is needed but I do expect to see bigger plays down field and for Dak to use RPO more effectively than what Rush has done.

I think we are going to get mediocre Dak. Other than 2016 and no Amari Cooper, that is what he is !

Agreed, we forgot play action as well.
It was maddening.

My problem with Dak is his inconsistency.
I know all QBs, even the elite ones have a clunker here and there.
But after the first 6 games last year where he looked elite, he only looked good against sorry defenses.
I was hopeful after he had all off season to work on his game and get healthy that would change.
Then the Tampa Bay game happened.
I honestly don't know what to expect with him the rest of this year.
My gut tells me the fans are running out of patience with him.
