Cowboys can't afford to lose sight of a winning formula. Run the ball and use play action off of the run, you have a great defense so no need to take great risk when you don't need to. Not expecting 400 yard passing game unless we are put in a situation where it is needed but I do expect to see bigger plays down field and for Dak to use RPO more effectively than what Rush has done.
Exactly, lean on the defense!
You don't have to be Superman to win.

My problem with Dak is his inconsistency.
I know all QBs, even the elite ones have a clunker here and there.
But after the first 6 games last year where he looked elite, he only looked good against sorry defenses.
I was hopeful after he had all off season to work on his game and get healthy that would change.
Then the Tampa Bay game happened.
I honestly don't know what to expect with him the rest of this year.
My gut tells me the fans are running out of patience with him.

Well good thing we have the Detroit D coming in this week.

The run game is really the key
That opens up everything
Play action can make Gallup, lamb, brown and company look like all pros
I’d love seeing games we throw 20-25 times and run 30 or more
That’s the recipe to win

Rush did about as well as you could hope for in Dak absence. My only problem with yesterdays game is that Coaching thought that he could throw us to victory. That's not on Rush.

Actually the run/pass mix was very even other than the last possessions of the 1st half and 2nd half when the team had to cover most of the field with little time to do so.

It's not about just running it's about using the run effectively, LIke we did his first 2 games were we used the run game to create space and protect Rush. Last night they called the game like he was Aaron Rogers. When its 3rd and 2 or 3rd and 1 you don't roll rush out and pass to keep the drive going. Zeke was averaging 6.2 per carry. How many times did we see Rush in an empty backfield? One time is too many as he's not that guy.
they called the game that way, because we are down 20. at some point you have to be able to pass the ball and gain yards in chunks. that was not possible with Rush. we know that. so its funny everybody else gets the blame for a loss, except a noodle arm QB with limitations. people ask why didn't we game plan to his limitations and make him into a super QB that he could never be....

Cooper Rush was not good last night.

But he wasn't as bad as Dak in Week 1 or last year in the playoff game.

At this point, we know we have a good backup quarterback in Rush.

But we may only have good backup QBs here, and that's a problem.

At some point you have to do what you built your team to do. Take a look at the drive charts, the touchdown drives in particular. You could deduce that the only reason we scored at all, and climbed back into the game, was due to the impact of the run game.

The schedule is easy enough and there is absolutely no dominant NFC team.

Sets up nice for regular season stats which would align with his career history.

NFC Championship at a minimum should be this year's standard.

Gonna be fun here.

Yes, especially when QB1 is taking up a lot of the cap.

We saw Cooper's limitations on full display last night.
Limited arm strength being weakness number one.
But, this guy was the back up QB and based on preseason play
far and away exceeded expectations.
He is a great fill in, not a lead dog.
But still, in a QB starved league, will get a nice contract this off season.

Now it's Dak time.
It's hard to know what kind of play to expect.
Are we going to get the first 6 games of last season Dak?
Or are we going to get the 49ers and Tampa Bay Dak?
Somewhere in between?

For the Cowboy's to be serious contenders this year we have to get solid QB play.
With Dak's contract we are tied to him for a couple of seasons so it's in our best interest for him
to excel.

I sense that the fanbase is losing it's patience with Dak.
If he does not play up to his contract I can see things getting ugly.

I hope he balls out.
Maybe he learned something during his down time?
Hopefully he will play within himself and not try and do too much?
It would be nice if they run a similiar offense that they have been running
as I think that's more suited to his game.

We shall see.
This is the story within the story of this version of the Dallas Cowboys.

Probably in the minority here, but I think Dak is going to do brilliantly the rest of the season. 1. Our next two opponents are Detroit and Chicago before the bye week. That's two teams that I expect that we will demolish. 2. Tied into 1, those opponents can help give Dak a chance to find a rhythm with the rest of the offense that he didn't have earlier this season as he didn't play in preseason (let this be a lesson to our coaches), and 3. Dak has abilities such as across the middle throws that Rush isn't quite as accustomed to throwing. Rush played admirably, and it's nice that we finally have a solid backup. However, I think Dak will be able to take us to the next level. We need a lot more points, and Dak can do that. Momentum is key in football, and the next opponents and the bye week are vital for being able to build that up before we go into the rest of the season. Thus, I think Dak will be brilliant.

Rusty, I sure hope you are right !
We need quality QB play to get to the next level
and with Dak's contract he needs to be that guy.

I shall go one step further. Dak tends to like to do a bit more short passes to set up the longer passes later. This means involving the slot WRs and tight ends more, as well as working the sidelines. As long as we continue to run the ball well, then I think Dak can revert to what he was last year until the injury.

He certainly does if we want to go where we can go. I think we have a championship caliber defence, and we've done well running the ball in his absence. All he has to do is drive the bus and just find the open player. Playing check downs isn't a bad thing, and I think just driving the bus by Dak should be enough to help this team reach it's potential.

I think Dak needs to play within his abilities and not try to carry the team and be Superman.

The thing is we will know very quickly because either we will go back to shotgun full time or we will go under center and use the run and pa game...its KM its been KM, people dont like Dak so they say "Dak is changing the scheme" no man its KM he tried to use empty set with Cooper Rush..km wants air raid and thats the problem.

Exactly, and that's where I think he gets in trouble. He tries to do too much by himself. For example, when in trouble, he tends to hold the ball too long waiting for the players to get open rather than just checking it down. I think just trusting his WRs and being willing to play the checkdown bus driving style should be what he focuses more on. The deep balls he likes to throw will open later in the game if he just focuses on hitting the WRs. They're quick, you know? All Dak has to do is just drive the bus. No need to try to force things. Just take what's open.
