OK, not trying to start any ****, just a question. So now what do we do about QB? Not really anything left that just blows you away. It's obvious that the position needs to be addressed. Do we look for something in free agency that could possibly be Romo's replacement or go all in next year or what? Just some friendly conversation to think about?

Connor Cook and Dak Prescott are available, Hoyer is available in FA all of those guys are better than Moore.

My thoughts-

I'm not a fan of the "draft a QB high because you're going to need one soon" strategy. If you really think a QB is going to be the truth, then by all means, go get that guy and if that means trading up, do it. But look at how many times teams have reached over the past few years only to see it backfire. If the Cowboys truly do not believe in any of these rookies, then I say leave it alone until next year. We can use our resources on other areas.

We are one broken shoulder or injured back from being right back at the top of the draft...that time they will go QB and move on would be my suspicion. I don't know if I agree that Moore isn't a decent QB. He needs to have the offense adjusted to suit his talents. The offense was far too "Romo friendly". I just find it hard to believe that all of those QBs were THAT bad.

So..

  1. Either the Cowboys can't evaluate QBs
  2. The coaches can't teach QBs
  3. Or the system wasn't really a system and was reliant upon Romo playing sandlot ball.

I tend to agree that Moore isn't as bad as some on here like to pretend.

And I do think that there were definitely some other factors contributing to the poor performances by last year's backup QB's- primarily the lack of Dez Bryant, and the rotating door at RB. Also the fact that we missed badly on Weeden caused a real domino affect. Cassel had no offseason to acclimate, and the season was over by the time Moore was getting "meaningful" snaps.

This'll sound strange but I honestly think if Weeden could've won just one or two of the games he lost, they keep him in there and we probably win some of those games we lost with Cassel and Moore. But, then we wouldn't have had a premium pick and still would've missed the playoffs anyway. OR, maybe they wouldn't have rushed Romo back and there wouldn't have been the 2nd collarbone break.

Who knows. We could play the "if" game all day I suppose. But, I digress. Point being we missed on Weeden and ultimately it cost us.

I think Its weird how Jerry and Stephen made such a big deal about how they were gonna address the backup qb position when the season was over and now all of a sudden they feel comfortable that Kellen Moore can get the job done.

Something is just not adding up here?

I'd say pass the QBs in the draft and get a new backup in FA. The sooner the better so they can learn the playbook.

Because things didn't fall as they had hoped. Simple as that.
