QB2? I'm going with Howell

That Mingo costing a draft pick insurance policy sure has him kicking around Dallas beyond expiration point . Milton doesn’t have that luxury . Back up QB is someone who might actually play it’s not receiver 5.

There was one year Howell started and he led the league in passing through 6 weeks. Granted, that all came crashing down eventually. But he did it. That's not something Milton could do in a wet dream. To me it's not even close. I just think Howell needs better coaching. He has the ability.

If he has the “ ability “ where has it been hiding . Teams are desperate for competent QB play .

I won't be surprised if Howell gets the Grier treatment, handshake deal to be put on the practice squad since he's a vet and can't be claimed, as Dallas gives Milton one more year to live up to his arm and athleticism. Then, we can bring up Howell or sign him to the 53 as needed.
Vets can’t be claimed off the PS? I’ve never heard this before. The only thing I know but not sure is it still exists, is that teams can protect 4 players on the PS. Not saying you’re wrong, just that I was unaware.

The only thing that I get is that Howell, Rush, or Milton's name should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Dak Prescott's name. None of them have been and most likely will ever be anywhere near the level that Dak is on.
He obviously thinks Rush is better than Dak. Too stupid a comment to even respond to.

Milton throws a prettier ball but I'm going with Howell as the better QB2 right now. Howell just looks more poised in the pocket and more aware of where the ball needs to go. Doesn't have the arm or athleticism of Milton, but I think he can win games if Dak goes down. I just don't trust Milton being able to handle the starting job even if he does look improved from last season.
I agree but still rooting for Milton. His skills are off the charts

I think both need better coaching.
By the way, who is the Cowboys QB coach?

Howell = Rush . We’ve seen that movie . Give me Milton
I'll be honest...there's a part of me that went along that path during the spring. But if Dak stays healthy, I think Howell is better equipped to be the backup. Milton needs more playing time, the reps, more game experience. If Dak goes down however and Howell can't win games in his place then I'd want to give Milton the opportunity.

They can be signed off a practice squad, but any vested veteran who is cut does not go through waivers, so they can choose where they go. Dallas has used this in the past. Yes, teams can also protect up to four players on the practice squad each week.

The only time players can be claimed is when a team waives them and they are not a vested vet (4 accrued seasons or more). Once they are on the PS, they can be signed by another team (unless protected) but they can't be claimed.

That makes perfect sense . Milton won’t progress sitting on a bench where as Howell has experience built in .

Say what you will about Howell but hes literally undefeated in the playoffs

Does he? Not sure that's true. He appears to be the typical athletic big arm guy who can't play QB. Reminds me of Carson Wentz.

Milton is starting to look like a thinner version of JaMarcus Russell.

Milton can extend plays get out of the pocket . Brandon Weedon was handed the Cleveland job did nothing with it. Last I checked Milton starts sporadically never with the keys for any length of time . Bad comparison . Howell and Rush have both had exposure to compare . Like I said caretakers.
Howell and Rush is a terrible comparison. Not remotely close.

So are lots of guys.

But the game moves far too fast for Milton, and he throws like he's using a catapult blindfolded.

Sam Howell NFL record 6-14 . Nothing to look forward to no surprises await .
