Did anyone else see an NFL Quarterback competition that had John Elway, Boomer Esiason, Dan Marino, and a few other retired veteran quaterbacks and a few currently active NFL quarterbacks competiting.

They had several obstacles ...

A golf cart , with a large target, running about 5 mph across the width of the field -- the objective was to have the QBs run to a nearby table that had 3 footballs. Grab and throw the footballs to hit the moving target; with a Bonus ball to hit a live wide-receiver down field.

another obstacle was to have the QB run a simulated pattern out of the pocket and hit a moving target.

Anyway, just wondered if any else saw the competition. It was very entertaining. Can't think of the official name of the program/competition.

I saw parts of it NFL Quarterback Skills Challenge, or something of that nature.

Bernie Kosar looked pretty bad in the moving target bit.

That's it! Who was the Qb who Fell trying to scramble? Everyone dogged Him Out. Believe he was from the Bengals (not Boomer).

Man I wished I would have seen that program.

I would have liked to see the older guys and the young guys together in the competition.

I still remember one years ago when I think it was Favre and Randall Cunningham doing the long distance throw.

I think Favres long one went out of bounds so it did not count and Cunningham won because his stayed in bounds.

But I am not sure if it was one that went out of bounds, whether it was favre or cunningham but someone through the ball so far that it went past the barrier they had set up thinking nobody would throw that far....I was thinking it was at or over 80 yards.

Long time ago so maybe my memory fails me on that.

The old guys didn't compete against the young guys. They competed against each other in the motion toss thing. And I swear, they all still have good form, but their arms were like noodles. They were either inaccurate, short or both.

Now the young guys weren't all that much better, but their arm strength was off the charts. The distance competition. All of them were averaging 60 yards. Leftwich tossed a 72 yarder and I'm trying to think who he beat out. I think Ben R. who tossed it for 71.

I started a thread on the main forum, but it wasn't a big deal. I just happened to be online while watching and gave a heads up.

Delhomme won. Harrington looked awful, IMO. I don't think we'll see a Drew Brees like year for him. Hasselbeck, who won last year looked really average in comparison to all the young guns. I swear I had major QB envy after watching that show. It's not for the faint of heart.

BTW, you know they use live receivers now. Well Torry Holt was catching the fade patterns w/one hand. Joe Horn, Carson Palmer, and Keenan McCardell were the others. They made some pretty cool catches, as well.

NFL network will rebroad cast it again and again and again so I'm sure if you want you'll get your chance to see it. I didn't watch it because ESPN told who won the dang thing a week before it was broadcast which sucked. I bet they did it because it was on a rival station NFL Network....

Kind of funny that a guy who didn't have enough physical skills to get drafted out of college wins a skills competition against a bunch of former 1st and 2nd rounders. And the guy who won it the year before was drafted in the 6th round. It really just goes to show how much of QB college scouting comes down to how high a profile program and college you played for. No wonder QB's drafted with Top 10 picks bust at such an unbelievably high percentage compared to other positions.

(FWIW Tony Romo threw the ball 57 mph at his Combine, which would have tied him for 2nd place in this last combine with Adrian McPherson. Favre threw the ball 61 mph at his combine).

I found it extremely interesting to watch Marino, Esiason, and Elway still had good arms. With extensive practice they could probably be effective. I'd Like to see an old-timers "touch/flag" game; NFC versus AFC game. ProbabLy will never happen -- but I know there's still a Lot of talent that has retired.

Who do you think could still play ...

Emmit Smith
Cunningham
Irvin
Barry Sanders
Just a few that came to mind.
