Okay, just one week to go so doing a little what if type theory.

We all know of the trades that have gone down so far. We know the potential of other drafts that probably will happen when it comes to QBs. We know there will be some surprise picks in the 1st round as there always are. We think we know the guys draft wants or needs.

So if the so called experts are right on the QBs and it goes something like this on the first 4 picks:
1. Cleveland - Josh Allen QB Wyoming
2. Buffalo - Sam Darnold QB USC
3. NY Jets - Josh Rosen QB UCLA
4. NY Giants - Bradley Chubb DE North Carolina

Then there is going to be a situation where other trades start to happen with Denver and on down. Looking at the board, team needs, etc. , it appears that Nelson could fall into the 9 to 15 range.

If you are Dallas and suddenly you see Nelson at say 12 or 14 or 15, would you (not saying Dallas would) trade up to get Nelson?

I am just thinking we need defense but the thought of a OL of Smith, Nelson, Frederick, Martin, and Collins with Zeke running behind it would be a killer offensive. Teams would always have to have 8 in the box, heck maybe even 9 on some plays then if you run a RPO play there will always be a WR open or TE open.

The offensive could hold the ball for at least 8 to 10 minutes every drive. Defensive free to take some chances and less time on the field for them, a good thing.

Could it happen, don't know, possibility absolute since only 3 guards have been drafted in the top 10 since the year 2000 and only one of them was successful (Leonard Davis). Most teams do not like to spend a high draft pick on a guard. Just think about the positions that go high because it gets more unlikely a good one falls, positions like QB, DE, CB, OT, even RB and LB.

So if the so-called experts are right and 6 QBs end up going in the top 15, it becomes more likely a guy like Nelson could be there in that 9-16 range, so what would you do, take the best defensive guy around, or a WR or take a guy that most everyone "expert" agrees is the first or second best player in the draft.

I won't go the insulting route that others likely will. But I will say this:

Would I move up for a talent like Nelson if that scenario were to actually happen? Absolutely! I think he's the best player at his position and safest pick in this entire draft.

Do I think there's a snowball's chance of this scenario happening? No. Unfortunately I think that is a pipe dream. A nice dream, but a dream nonetheless.

Bears pick at 8 is for sale and I love Nelson but I wouldnt do it. I would for Darnold or Rosen.

Yea would be great to get Nelson but problem is many teams need interior OL. Nelson would most likely go before almost every if you don't include QBs. I could even see him go before Barkley and Chubb before he falls outside the top 10. I would think he doesn't get pass the Bears at all. I'm thinking Nelson won't fall further then 8.

I rather take a defender like Roquan or Vea and then trade up for Hernandez.

I have could have any these combos I would over just getting Nelson.

Vea, Hernandez
Roquan, Hernandez

Trade back and get
Sutton/Moore, Hernandez
Or throw in Wynn/Price/Daniels etc. and still get a player in the second.

Love Nelson but I think a small trade up for Nelson (in your theory), Roquan, Derwin and Vea would be the only players I would trade up for but none where I lose my 2nd

The only OG I would take in the first round is Nelson. Not because we "need" to have an OG in the first round like some think. But because he's arguably the best player in the draft and a Top 5 talent. When a guy like that falls and you have a chance to get him, then you grab him. At that point, it's a complete and total value play.

No, I wouldn't trade up to 12 for him. That's pricey. But if he, by some bizarre act of God, fell to like 15 or 16, I might pick up the phone and see what the cost is. I am sure quite a few teams would do that.

If Nelson falls to 19.....take him him, but don't trade up for him.

Sounds blasphemous but if we somehow swung Nelson in RD1 I’m not paying Zack Martin the ridiculous salary he is due. I ride it out and take the comp pick up he leaves.

We are not drafting a guard in the first 2 rounds. We have a line with 3 all pros how much more talent do you need in one unit.

Barkley very well could go 1 to Cleveland. BTW...he's already been crowned lol. I have been listening to the ridiculous lovefest going on in the media. Bust alert for Barkley. I got no proof..just a gut feel. I know he aint going to the Giants. Cleveland will get a solid starting QB at 4 to pair with Saquan. Good player and good runner...but until he does it between the tackles in the NFL..I refuse to crown him best running back in the league! Zeke,Bell, and others may have something to say about that. The pressure will be enormous for the kid to be great day 1. In the end,I think he will hit that rookie wall.

If he was in the range where we could package our 2nd to get him.....I'd do it. I get its overkill for the O-line but at the end of the day we'd be getting what I consider the best player in the draft and a talent that I think will play at a level pretty similar to what we saw from Zack Martin his first four years.

I think it would take a Tunsil-esque picture that also include him holding a club standing over a bludgeoned baby seal.

Sure, whatever it takes!

Who's good with photoshop?

If Quenton Nelson slips outta the top 10...I move heaven and earth to get him.
