Question about Anthony Spencer

I have been thinking this since the season began but never really thought to ask if anyone else thought the same way.

Is he out of shape? I don't know if it is just me, but he looks kind of pudgy and not nearly as cut as our other linebackers. I'm not saying he is Jemarcus Russel fat, it just looks like he is carrying a little extra weight...

Maybe I am crazy, or just looking for a reason to explain the lack of production.

You are not a sumo wrestler. Or even a competitive eater for that matter. You cannot simply shovel calories and carbs in like there are no consequences.

Try mixing in a salad and a diet soft drink instead of the real stuff.

I don't know if he is fat but he does look bigger than I remember him. It won't matter if Butler keeps getting sacks everytime he is in the game and Spencer doesn't. Spencer will be watching Butler from the sideline.

Unless Butler can cover RBs or TEs, Spencer is still gonna be the starter. Also Butler has gotten snaps late in other games and didn't get a sack. Let's also throw in the fact that Spencer has been very stout against the run something that we don't know if Butler can do.

I do agree with putting Butler in on known passing situations to spell Spencer and keep him fresher.

I will say this...once Butler gets down all the facets of being a 3-4 OLB he's gonna be another DWare. His pass rushing skills are good but right now he needs to learn how to play the run.

Best on team among non DBs with 4 PDs.

2nd on the team to Ratliff with 4 TFLs.

If only this bum can lose some weight.

I thought Spencer lost weight for this season? Spencer played in the low 260's his rook season and last year, but looks slimmer than Curtis Johnson who is listed at 254.

Carp also lost about 5-7 lbs this season, from the mid 250's to around 245.

There seems to always be a stupid thread every week starring a new armchair coach that seems to know what is best for this team. Sigh...

I'm guilty of this but I've learned my lesson...

With those stats it is very odd he doesn't have a sack yet. Because he seems to be playing solid.

Spencer will get some sacks this year. I do wish he'd learn to read traps and delayed draws into the hole he leaves rushing upfield. That's the only flaw I can see in the run game. He holds his ground pretty good.

Spencer has always been a little pudgy...Look back at his combine pictures and videos when he had that Hawk. nothing out of the norm, he's just not as Built as Ware.

Ok I have to abrdige this for tards. I am not an armchair coach, I asked a question. I even prefaced it with, maybe its just me. So maybe it is...although I think one person might have agreed. But when you say something bad about a cowboy on a cowboy forum I guess you should expect people not to actually read what you wrote.

The tard that said something about armchair coaches is projecting I believe. So I am guessing the consensus answer is no, he is not fat. But the lack of production isn;t my imagination, and yes I know he has qb pressures. It is actually 16 according to rotoworld.

I'm curious as to how Spencer will play the second half of the year.He showed some rushing ability his rookie year,he just couldn't stay on the field.Last year he was used primarily as a run defender with Ellis being the pass rush specialist.This year he has been pretty good against the rush and just a tad slow against the pass,hence QB pressures instead of sacks.I hope he will start to pick up the pace this weekend,they say sacks come in bunches.Hopefully Spencer will get over the hump and get a bunch of sacks against that sieve of a line in Green Bay.
