I am reading about Chapas not being big enough to be a lead blocker, I know he is listed at 6'2'' 247.. i was wondering how big moose was? and is 247 really too small to lead block?

Here are two scouting reports on the kid.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The captain for Georgia last season, Chapas is a snap-to-whistle player, relying more on effort and guile than skill and talent. While he has the prototypical size to be a fullback in the NFL, he does not have the advanced receiving skills to be versatile enough for the H-back position. Chapas, though, is one of those players who will churn out a needed yard or two. His biggest strength is his initial impact as a blocker, often driving the opponent back, and maintains that aggressiveness throughout the play. A coach's player, Chapas will likely be a late-round selection and a good bet to stick on a roster as a special teams player or be stashed on a practice squad.

Wes Bunting

A taller fullback prospect who exhibits impressive flexibility and overall bend when asked to sit into his stance. Possesses an average first step when pressing the hole, but exhibits good body control and instincts as a lead blocker. Does a nice job quickly locating his target and deciphering information inside. Lacks ideal power/pop on contact and isn't a guy who will consistently overwhelm defenders off the football. But is strong enough to initially create enough of a surge to seal his man from the play. Does a nice job breaking down in tight quarters, extending his arms and sealing on perimeter runs. Also, drops his pad level well into contact and looks natural cutting down defenders off his frame in space.

Sounds to me like he'll be a fine blocker.

Find the top 5 Full Backs in the league. Look at their height/weight and see if there is much of a difference in size.

yeah, I was asking what yall though cause NFL network has this as his overview.
Chapas is a gritty football player with a throwback mentality, but he does not have the bulk or athleticism to be a lead blocker in the NFL. Although he flashes the ability to make difficult catches, he is a very raw receiver and will not be able to assume an H-back role at the next level. However, he has a relentless motor and good pop at the point of attack. He also can be effective in short yardage situations on his terrific effort alone. Chapas will likely be a day 3 pick, as he has a great attitude and is a coach's dream.

and i was thinking.. moose can't have been much bigger.

Pro Football Reference has:

Daryl Johnston: 6'2", 238

Madison Hedgecock: 6'3", 266
Lousaka Polite: 6'0", 246
Tony Richardson: 6'1", 238
Lorenzo Neal: 5'11", 255

Chapas's size doesn't look terribly out of place even vs. today's guys.

my worry was more about his height -- 6'2" is about on the cusp of maximum. Anything taller and you start to look more like a TE

At the collegiate level he was noted for being a hitter. He was a team leader and receive a whole shelf of awards for being intelectual and an extremely hard worker in the weight room. Once he reaches his physical and top end maturity potential at about 23, he will have all the size and strength to be equally as effective in the current and still developing Jason Garrett system.

Hey, he's a good kid that now is a Cowboy 'rook.'
