So as free agency approaches and we keep worrying about who will leave or who we need to stay, I was wondering if any of our free agents in the past have went to a new team and just dominated? Like when I think about Jason hatcher, Stephen Bowen, Alvin harper, mike Jenkins, Kevin Burnett, and others, I just don't ever remember saying "man, they are doing wonderful over there, wish we kept them". Its like the cowboys know whats about to happen. Maybe martellus bennett is an exception but that's a slight stretch. Can you guys think of anyone?

Alan Ball.....just kidding.

You are right, no one stands out as a difference maker. Just as we never signed anyone that was a difference maker. THere were a few that played well, but we still lacked other areas to say if they made a great impact.

This is why we are seeing the change of philosophies in our FA approach, and using the draft the way it should be.

Even Parcells screwed us over with his own FA's.

Right. Completely agree. It honestly makes me feel better about not retaining our own agents. If we really wanted them, they would've been signed long ago

Terrance Newman and Adam Jones are still playing at a high level
DMurray dominated this year in the right system

DWare only did OK for DEN but helped get them a ring

Jimmy Smith comes to mind, but Im fairly certain he was straight cut. He sure ended up having a nice career.

Going back a ways to Ken Norton, Kevin Gogan, Brock Marion, and restricted fa Ron Stone.

He didn't make all that of a difference if SF for them. Seems to have disappeared after he went there.
Or maybe I missed his plays there.
He was selected to the pro bowl in 1995 and 1997 as a 49er. Had some really high tackle totals from 95-99
But I'm not a big Norton fan just providing an example

Well...at second glance. I'd love to have a Norton type on the roster

Ok...maybe Anthony Fasano. His numbers jumped after leaving Dallas. This is probably just a result of getting more targets but he did statistically get better. Lol

It's not really about did a player dominate after they left but did you get better at the position after they left
Most dominate players don't leave but if you replace a solid player with a worse player that seeems much more important to me

Ball actually had a decent year in Jacksonville, but fell off the cliff after that.

Mark Stepnoski left for Houston and played very well. But there arent too many examples of stellar play from players were signed away. Lots of average performances mixed in with a handful of pro bowlers.

Martellus Bennett? While he did nor dominate, he was pretty productive last year for the pats. He would not have made a difference if he were on the boys last year, but he did well last year and got a ring.
