Jerry said since we are on our 9th starter since Troy left, we may change our policy of not trading up for a QB in the first round. If Tony plays well these last 10 games, do you think we draft a QB in the first round? If he plays well does he start next year and us look at trying to lock him up long term? :starspin

I think the chances are good he starts here next year regardless of how he looks, unless he goes into a total meltdown. I do think we would be stupid to not try and draft a QB early next year, if we have the opprotunity. We definately could use one of those high end QB prospects and stop attempting to make chicken salad from chicken... well you know.

If Tony doesn't pan out, we'll probably be drafting high and it will most likely be a QB.

However, if he does, I still think we should draft a QB every two years or so who has potential to develop as at least a backup, possibly a future starter, or as trade bait.

I think the key is what you said about how Romo performs. I think if he does really well, or even just does well enough to show promise for the future that we would definitely not draft QB in 1st round, maybe middle rounds, or 2nd day.

I think if Romo struggles we MIGHT go 1st round, but i really just don't see that happening. I think the highest we draft a QB would be 2nd round. But that's just my opinion.

I absolutely agree with this...

I think if Romo looks good the rest of the year then we need to try to get him resigned. We could have a Rivers/Brees sitution here next year.

It all depends whos avaliable. I think we should take one no-matter what though, for back-up or future reasons.

If you trade up early for a QB, you had better be sure he is the one that can be your franchise QB for many years to come.

A look at our schedule should tell you how well Tony will play this year. We don't necessarily need a qb in the first round and we should bring in a veteran qb also, that is younger than Bledsoe and just needs a fresh start.
David Garrard comes to mind or maybe even Shane Boyd, who looked pretty good in pre-season.

If the move is there, we need to take it, no matter what Romo does.
