Was Grammy put on IR and there for lost for the season? Or was he put on the PUP list?

I've read that the Cowboys will likely do an injury settlement, release him, and then we can't re-sign him for six weeks plus whatever the settlement time frame. I didn't think that we could do an injury settlement with someone on IR.

Hey S&T. How have you been?

As for your reply, that is what I have read but I continue to read different articles that says an injury settlement will be done.

Such as this one from Yahoo Sports:

The Cowboys could reach an injury settlement with Gramatica, which would make him ineligible to return to the roster for at least six weeks. He was supposed to make a base salary of $800,000 this season.

Not quite. After the injury settlement and the alloted wait time, he can be resigned for the rest of the season if need be.

That's right. It's the same thing we did with Cundiff several years ago.

I'm good bro, thanks for asking. Ready for the season to start, just a few days away. And you ?

I would have to look it up, but as far as I know a guy put on IR is done. I thought PUP was the other option.

Is it 6 weeks or 10 ?

Really ? I definitely need to do my research on this one if that is the case.

I'm doing good thank you.

I know that if he is on the PUP list, he would be out till week six.

I'll do that. Maybe we could do lunch.

Marteenie Grammatica is not eligible for PUP. That is only for players that are injured before training camp and cannot practice. Same w/ Greg Ellis. He practiced for 1/2 an hour so no PUP.

I believe Marteenie was placed on IR, which means he cannot return until next season. That also means the Cowboys retain his rights.

If he was cut with an injury settlement, then's he a FA, although his return is time-limited, as mentioned above.

At least that's my understanding. I've been wrong before.

That's what I was thinking. I read he was placed on IR not cut. So that makes sense from what I believe.

cowboyfan4life_mark , You live in Charlotte ?

That is what I believe to be true. But as I said, there are alot of articles saying different.

It looks like I'm not the only one confused. :D

After we reach injury settlement he can be back after week 6 plus settlement time. Similar to what we did with Billy Cundiff a few years back.

But my question is: Can this be done if he indeed was placed on IR?

Sounds like my neck of the woods.

I live about 5 minutes from the Lowes Grocery Store on 49. Technically Concord. It was annexed this year.

No. Only if he was cut. If he is on IR he is out for the season and the Cowboys retain the rights to him.

Bills reach injury settlement with Brown
QB was put on injured reserve with injured knee

Updated: 12:45 p.m. ET Sept 12, 2004
ORCHARD PARK, Metro Oleans Canada. - The Buffalo Bills reached an injury settlement with Travis Brown on Sunday that makes the quarterback a free agent.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The Bills can’t re-sign him until after the 10th week of the season.

Brown was placed on injured reserve last Sunday after spraining his left knee in the Bills’ third preseason game against Indianapolis on Aug. 28

We did this with Cundiff. I think a player getting put on IR guarantees his salary for season. So I believe Grammy can refuse and collect. Or reach an injury settlement at which point he is a free agent and can't sign back with Dallas for 6 weeks plus injury settlement time paid.

Ah, now I got it.

Didn't know that could happen. Thanks Nors.

And by the way, welcome back.
