I love the way Ratliff plays..

I was wondering what some of you think about putting Ratliff out at DE on early downs and shifting Igor to NT.

Here is my thinking... Igor does not generate any pass rush from the end would do a good job of eating up the run in the middle.

Ratliff would be able to use his speed and generate more plays like he did yesterday because they wouldnt be able to double him as much...

Also, you can put him on the same side as Ware and one of them should get through....

been wanting this since.. forever, but with Spears at NT (before we signed Igor)

i don't see any signs of it ever happening

i really don't see how it could hurt in obvious passing downs given the lackluster pass rush of spencer

Yea, not getting any sacks in two games has me concerned. We are generating pressure but not getting there. I know teams are getting rid of the ball quick but we need to find a way to get in there without always having to blitz....

I thought our secondary would be better, but when we blitz they get torched... actually they got torched either way yesterday.

I 2nd that, but with Igor on the nose. It just sounds perfect - a NT named "IGORRRRRRRRRR":star:

I think there are about 50 threads indicating Ratliff does not want to play DE.

I've been preaching this, like, forever. Somewhere down the line, Ratliff is going to wear down, and that would be a shame. Even as quick & athletic as he is, he still takes a beating in there. Igor is bigger & less agile, but strong like bull. I was frustrated that we didn't get a Ron Brace type in the draft. In fact, we didn't get ANY NTs! These guys that haven't played in years will only take you so far.

I think Ratliff is faster and more agile than the average interior lineman, but doesn't have enough burst to get around the corner on most tackles. He's unusually strong in his lower body, which helps him maintain his position when doubleteamed.

Moving him to DE would make him less productive, IMO.

Ratliff played on the outside this past game part of the time.
Remember the open field tackle on the RB...
It happens from time to time.
