What happens if the fans are so rowdy they start throwing stuff all over the field ...... does the home team get penalized for delay of game?

I would like to know what the worse case scenerio has been so far in the history of the NFL?

The worst thing I can remember was when the Philly fans started throwing snowballs with batteries in them at the Dallas bench at the end of the 1991 game at the Vet.

The Giants fans also threw snowballs at the Chargers during a game in 1995

The NFL should have stepped in long ago with alot of the antics that they do. There should also be more cops outside the stadium to stop some of the fights that go on....

I don't think there will be much ramifications, you can't really hold a team accountable for their fans, maybe the front office, or the PR, but there's nothing really the NFL can do about it, other than lock up the most prominent offenders, charging for a delay of game may be the worst thing the NFL can do

but policing 50,000+ people? no city police force in the world has the manpower, money to be exact, to be able to pull that off

Sure they can. They can also enforce penalties against the team for conduct of the fans.

I think penalizing the home team would make the biggest effect.

Philly fans are used to spending the night in jail .......

They get to visit their mothers that way ;)

I agree. I'm astounded that fans can't even wear the visiting team's jersey without getting the hell beat out of them. That's totally inexcusable.

I know that place is a craphole and their fans pride themselves on acting like thugs, but this is still the USA, not some third-world banana republic.

really? then why do the Philly fans still act the way that they do? I'm sure if the police could do anything about it on a large-scale to stop it, or limit it, they would, even putting a holding cell in the Vet didn't put much of a dent in the antics, they just don't have the man-power, no police force does against the scale of how many people go to NFL games

but I can't complain, I'm not getting hit any harder on my taxes, and the Philly fans keep on looking like idiots ;)

You can get a 15 yard penalty for fan interference. it has been known to happen. not that often though.

Didn't some of the Giants' season ticket holders lose their seats because of the iceball incident?

IIRC, the officials threatened to call an early end to the game in Cleveland a few years ago. The Brown (stuff) got jobbed by the refs and the fans in the dawg pound went nuts and were throwing things on the field. I believe the officials either stopped the game or threatened to end it early which would have given the opponents the game because the Browns were trailing.

If they wanted to stop it they could pretty easily. They just don't want to use the tactics it takes.

As far as policing, I am talking about OUTSIDE the stadium.....they can have a bigger presence than they currently have. It's ridiculous what happens to even older people just because they aren't Eagles fans. Sucker punches....harrassing, etc.
