Question that I've been wondering about -- Is the "12" going to be particularly good for the Cowboys, due to the lack of TEs with running blocking skills, it ends up being a predominant passing formation?

It seems to me the "12" is predicated on dual-purposes TEs who can be pass receivers OR blockers effectively.

Heck, is the only reason why the "12" has worked so well for NE is that they have a very unique TE (Gronk) who is capable of putting up WR type of receiving numbers AND is a way above average blocker?

I think it'll be effective for the most part. Witten is a pretty good blocker and Hanna is about average, although improving. Escobar is lacking in upper body strength but will be utilized mostly in a receiving capacity moreso than for his limited blocking ability. I believe he'll eventually improve his blocking with experience, development and added strength, by way of weight training and conditioning. Also, Romo is at his best delivering passes to the shorter and mid range routes, which is what we'll be seeing with the tight ends more involved.
