Question about the bowls....

I thought the 4 BCS Bowls rotated having the national championship game. How is it that the championship game is at the same site as the Fiesta bowl, but a week later?

Last year UT won the championship by beating USC in the Rose Bowl right?

There's a new bowl this year, specifically for the National title, called the BCS national championship game. They still have the 4 BCS bowls, plus one more this year, the actual title game itself.

Thanks HH, I don't really follow college football closely so I had no idea about this change.

They wanted to allow 10 teams into the BCS system instead of 8. There are so many tweaks and changes every year with this system... It's really wearing on my patience for College Football. I'm not the least bit interested in the OSU-UF game this year. I guess the only BCS game I'm looking forward to is the Rose Bowl.

This is the only game I'm interested in. But I will watch the UM ~ USC Rose Bowl game also. I think UM was ripped off, and should be play OSU again, just to see OSU beat them again.

This looks like the start of a playoff system to me. With the Title game being a week later it would be a small matter to have the top tow teams left after the 4 Bowl games to then play the Title game. Or go one week longer and turn the 4 bowl games into the first round of a playoff bracket. I predict that this is the way it will go in a few years with a few tweaks here and there each year to ease into the system.

BCS doesn't want to be dismantled by two many controversies like the USC vs. Michigan debate this year or the USC vs. Oklahoma debate of a few years ago. But they can't just make a wholesale change from the Bowl system to a playoff system so they will work into it slowly until it is a logical next step to have a playoff. It may be 10 years down the road before the pieces are all in place to take that step.
