Question about Ware and 4-3 / 3-4

I've seen some posts and several media people say that Ware is now playing in a 3-4; however, Denver's website lists their depth chart as a 4-3.

Has anybody really studied Denver's defense?

I reviewed a couple of their games and it appears that they are more of a 4-3 look but Ware sometimes is standing up and sometimes has his hand on the ground. He looks more like a stand-up DE than a 3-4 OLB.

Von Miler moves around. Sometimes he just looks like an ordinary 4-3 LB, sometimes like a 4-3 DE and sometimes like 3-4 OLB. I think the 3-4 look is really a 4-3 but Miller just aligns close to the line as the 4-3 SLB and rushes.

Their DTs appeared to be playing primarily 1-tech and 3-tech positions. I didn't really see much that looked like 5-tech, 0-tech, 5-tech (a 3-4 look).

This idea has been posted before, but it seems like the Cowboys might be able to use Bruce Carter as a pass rusher at times. I don't see him lining up as a true stand-up DE which Miller sometimes does, but Miller often rushes from what looks like a 4-3 SLB position which Carter could do.

The Cowboys have had Wilber rush from the LB spot a few times, but I don't recall Carter doing it. I think Carter has blitzed, but it was more as an inside blitz and not around the corner.

Miller 6-3, 250
Carter 6-2, 240

The Broncos kind of play a Multiple D. Sometimes Ware is rushing as 3-4 OLB and sometimes he has his hand in the dirt.

Carter seems to be at his best when he is let loose on a rush. Having too many responsibilities seems to put BC in a mixed up, unsure phase. Never going to be the vocal leader of this defense same as Ware never was, but he can do some really nice things. Got to stand him at the DE position once in a while on 3rd and long. Got to bring him on the blitz 3-5 times a game

I guess my question/observation is whether standing up constitutes being a 3-4 OLB when the inside players don't appear to be playing 1-tech, 3-tech and not 5-tech, 0-tech, 5-tech.

He looks to be playing more of a 4-3 type end to me, but I am far from an expert.

This Cowboys team is mainly a four man rush front. The addition of linebackers seems to be going to blitz packages. These are dialed up by Rod Marinelli, but not the foundation of how the unit works. Skills are needed in rushing, but the linemen have to first arrive strongly, for linebackers to add a lot to the picture.

He plays as a pass rusher, standing up.
Same as he did here in the 3-4 but generally in 4 man fronts.

He and Miller are a crazy good pass rushing duo.

The reason i knew Ware would do better in Denver, or anywhere really, is less is being asked of him, When he was here, a lot was asked because he could deliver. But the Broncos have talent on the line, so less is asked of Ware, i personally feel thats the difference.

The only difference between a 3-4 and a 4-3 under or over is where a DE is in a three point or 2 point. Most 3-4 schemes in play these days are one-gap philosophy and the gap responsibilities tend to be the same.

There is no difference.
He was good enough here to enter the hall of fame.
He was slowed last year when he couldn't lift his arm.
That took away one of his pet rush moves.

He is surely declining but it was never so steep he couldn't rush the passer this season.
