Question about your college fanship

Buckeye fan, I root for Michigan when they play Notre Dame.

Please explain to me, why I'm supposed to "root" for schools, especially teams in my conference to do well, when those are the same schools I'm recruiting against? That's always been the most bass-akwards concept to me.

I don't root for rivals, but I do maybe root for a player I extremely like hoping they do good so they can be high in the draft. I'm not OU fan, but I do like Sam B. I really hated to see him get hurt, he seems like a good kid.

Seeing as how I'm a Navy fan, and their biggest rival is Army, I'd be embarrassed to say I root for them to lose on any occasion that isn't against the Naval Academy. I have too much respect for the young men that go to the Academies to hate.

Pro football is another story.

I root for them if it will help the Buckeyes...no problem.

Otherwise never.

because, like I said, if the teams in your conference win their non-conference games, it makes you look better in the eyes of the voters when you win your conference games......especially if the non-conference wins are against highly ranked opponents.

how hard of a concept is that to understand?

I will never root for any Longhorns to walk away with a W.

Pro football is a different story.

in a system that's all about impressing computers a strong conference goes a long way in improving your ranking

I'm a Longhorns fan and will root for who ever helps Texas out. For instance I'll pull for A&M over Oklahoma if that puts Texas a step closer to the Big 12 Championship. Now when Bowl time comes I pretty much pull for all the Big 12 Teams to win their games.

what if a Longhorns win = a National Championship for the Sooners? Would you root for the Horns then?
