I have seen several Mock Drafts and have thought long and hard about whether the Boyz should go Wide Receiver or Runningback or this or that, but did see one Mock Draft that shows the Boyz dropping back a little in the 1st Round than moving up a little in the 2nd Round and landing these two players:

Brandon Merriweather S or CB

Anthony Spencer DL (Pass Rusher)

When thinking about this I keep telling myself these two guys added to the Defense could really make the Boyz a top Defense in the NFL than theres a side of me that wants Offense from this Draft. What is your feelings on these two players?

Those two names have emerged within the past several days as the most likely picks. I'd be happy with either one at 22. I don't think we can trade down very far and still pick them up.

Merriweather isn't the most athletic safety in this draft (far from it actually), but apparently he just has great football instincts and vision.

Spencer was the most productive DE in NCAA in 2006. He's got adequate coverage skills and just has a knack for beating the tackle either by bull-rush, speed moves or otherwise.

If someone could guarantee that those moves could get both of those players, I'd be all for it.

This team's achilles heel last season was defense.

Drafting both those players would go a long way to imrpoving that side of the ball.

That said, I don't see how the Cowboys could end up with both of them.

I say the same thing, I'm sick of people clamering for a safety however, I believe the idea behind Merriweather is that he could play some CB too. Like the nickle corner. So if we bring him in to play some nickle corner and be a backup safety to hamlin for a year then it doesn't sound so bad to me. I'd still rather draft some offence in the first round. It's been what a decade since we did?

My favorite option is trading down and adding picks. Deep draft @ WR & CB, our two biggest needs. Would like to capitalize on that and add impact at other positions.

I have seen Spencer in several 2nd Round Mocks and was thinking a trade down in the 1st a couple of picks to land Merriweather would give the Ammo needed to move the 2nd Pick up for Spencer.
