Doesn't matter really. We need an entire organizational overhaul or like you said.. we will get the same thing over and over.

The problem is we can go a couple of ways, and either one will only last 2-3 years.

Cupcake player's coach: Looks good on paper, everyone loves them, then they fall apart and get run out of town.
Hardass: Can stand up to Jerry for a year or two, and then gets annoyed and leaves.

Rinse and repeat.

Don't get your hopes up. Garrett is guaranteed to be back next year. that comes straight from the top. I am more concerned with who the next Longhorn coach is going to be.

Whoever it is, needs to be an alpha male. Somebody that's capable of talking Jerry off the ledge the next time he wants to spend 1st and 2nd round picks on a CB, or give a 30 year old DT, with 2 years left on his contract, a contract extension and $18 million guaranteed.

At this point, I would take just about any change.... A Magic 8-Ball, the wino that yells at cars on my way to work, maybe even Dave Campo....

HELL NO!! NOT LOVIE!!! GIMME CHUCKY INSTEAD.
Lovie is far superior. Gruden is so overrated. He is a .500 coach like Garrett. He only won with an inherited team and then made them mediocre. Lovie has a very good winning record, he just couldn't find an OC.

I'd hire Lovie, fire Kiffin, promote Marinelli to DC knowledge, and maybe snag Joe Lombardi, the saints QB coach, and make him OC.

Doesnt matter who it is if Jerry stays as GM and picks his players and staff for him. Companies dont fail because of middle managers.

correct, which if you would have read the rest of my post was the EXACT point:

But who on EARTH will want to come in and try to resurrect this dead as a door nail franchise? They'll have to do it under the ever vigilant, sometimes drunken eye of one Jerry Jones.

Sure Red has failed but every coach since Switzer has failed under this setup. Barry succeeded because of the triplets and a decent D'. Hard not to hate JJ right now. Especially after the Green Bay fans invaded his stadium today and Dallas gave away another one. So then, WHO IS NEXT, and how will he be any different?

Yeah, I know he's gone. We all do after this latest humiliation of a game and season. But who on EARTH will want to come in and try to resurrect this dead as a door nail franchise? They'll have to do it under the ever vigilant, sometimes drunken eye of one Jerry Jones.

Anyone who will let Jerry pull the strings

It doesn't matter. Vince Lombardi couldn't coach a Jerry Jones managed team.

I feel your pain, honest to God I do. Been a fan since 1978, but this is deeper and more than just Red. Jimmy was onto something all those years ago when he walked away. He knew.

It was not simply being on to something, although Jones' "500 guys" comment surely enraged him and help facilitate his departure. He just got tired of being the only hammer in town. We see now what this team looks like without one. One of his best quotes: "Somebody has to have a hammer..." The rub is the question of who will come to Dallas for anything more than the paycheck and the profile...unless Jones suddendly develops amnesia on his current "hands on" approach. Today was like looking into an abyss...you can't see the bottom. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but today there was a whole lotta awful on display!

after thinking about this question, here is my honest answer:

I would bring in the young coach, whether college or pros, and say "we arent going anywhere for 4 years, its your team, staff it, field it, produce something" and just let nature takes its course.

We have tried the re treads, we have tried the old, the moldy and the roly polies. Lets just clean house and scorch this bad boy and start a new. Let the new coach draft his qb, and sit behind Romo for a year or two. Lets let whoever wants to walk to walk and lets get rid of bad contracts.

In respect for good conversation I wish I could fuel it with an answer. Sad reality is.....Doesn't matter. It will be a different looking face with Jerry in the same amount of control. Sorry, man. Wish it wasn't this way.

Great post it starts at the top. Jerry is responsible for this mess. His need to see himself as a football guy has killed this franchise.
