Are there even directors cuts of the Potter films?

No, not yet at least. But I'm sure a good portion of Potter fans would happily buy and sit through them when they did.

There's no way the movies have surpassed the LOTR movies (though the idea of the HP books surpassing the LOTR books seems laughable as well).

I wouldn't have pegged this for a harry potter crowd. I never got into the books when I was in school, and now that I'm in college I don't really have the time for a lot of recreational reading, but I definitely intend to read the books once I reach that promise land called graduation.

In the movies Dumbledore is phenomenal, Gambon doesn't have the whimsy that Harris did, but his portrayal definitely has its own merits. Snape is also good, but he seems like he might be better in the books. A little more development would do him wonders.

No doubt, I keep reminding myself that I am arguing the merits of Harry Potter on a football message board. I think I would have to have serious doubts about myself though if I was arguing it on a Harry Potter message board.

I agree. Gambon is fine but Harris was much better as Dumbledore. However, Dumbledore does seem to have a more youthful spirit with Harris playing him. But neither of them has jack on Ian McKellen's Gandalf!

I always like my women with brains. Hermione is good looking brave and smart. Best and most well rounded charactor in either the books or movies.

Yes. Hermonie gets to create a lot of magie most everyone bypasses or does not know about.

i was in this boat for a while but my girlfriend said i had to watch them all or no...well you get the picture

Hoho that is an endless list... Even the begninning of the newest movie was slain...they took away a great moment with the Dursely's...
