It (the franchise tag) is currently accounted for.If Dak were to not sign an extension and instead play on the 31 million tag do the Cowboys have enough cap space?
If he were to sign a long-term deal, the team would most likely gain significant cap room. The first year of a deal is usually a lower cap hit.
Has the final tag number for Dak even been officially set?
$31,409,000.
Is that official? Or is that Spotrac's calculation?
Because this article seems to say they were set back in March and Dak's cap hit is actually just under $27MM. And this came out the day after the CBA was ratified by the NFLPA.
So I am curious as to why Spotrac and Over the Cap are reporting cap hits of over $31MM when Breer is claiming it's much less. I must be missing something.

It became official on April 17th. That date corresponds with the end of the Restricted Free Agent signing period, which in turn marks the calculation date for the exclusive franchise tag as per the CBA.
The values in the link you provided are Non-exclusive tender values. Dak was tagged with the Exclusive franchise tender.
