Question for the Old Timers ... Newhouse?

IIRC, wasn't it Robert Newhouse that was listed as the third QB one season? I have a vague memory of him almost, or actually having to, come in and play QB.

Also, with Crayton and now Stanback, why would they have to carry a third QB? Both of these guys would be "servicible" for a one or two game stretch. Unless one of the camp fodder QB's makes one heck of an impact, why would we go into the season with 3 QB's?

Well I wouldn't want Crayton coming in and playing QB in any situation except for tricks plays. Stanback however I do believe could be a third string QB/WR and would probably do a good job in the role. He is a heck of an athlete.

Drew Pearson was the emergency QB. He took a snap in one game against Washington when most of the team had already gone to the locker room thinking the game was over. For some reasons, the refs had stopped the clock and made Dallas take another snap. Of course Pearson also threw several passes on reverse/trick plays.

If memory serves, Pearson was a QB in HS and maybe even at Tulsa before being moved to flanker/wr.

Wasn't Pearson also Joe Theisman's backup in highschool? Something I remember hearing them say when I was a kid, but not sure I heard it right.

I don't think Newhouse was. I remember Drew Pearson and Dan Reeves were at different times. Maybe you're remembering that Newhouse threw a TD in Super Bowl XII?

We didn't carry a 3rd QB in 2006. Risky proposition, but not unheard of.

Yes, it was the Newhouse TD that I was thinking of. Now that people have said it, Pearson is the one I was thinking about.

As for the 3rd QB, I was thinking that like '06 we didn't have to have a 3rd if it would open a spot for another need. Just that one of these two would be servicible for a short time if our starter and back up were unable to play.
