I was thinking about trying to start some kind of group in my neighborhood and local area for Vets to just come and talk. Kind of like AA, but with a focus on moving on passed our experiences oversees and dealing with our inept institutions. Nothing to be political, just some place to hang out. I tried going to the VFW and American Legion, but as a recovering alcoholic I am not comfortable around booze. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so I was wondering if any of you knew of an organization like this that already exists?

Don't know where you live, but meetup.com allows you to do exactly what you're looking to do

Lot of groups out there, the VA has peer specialist to help as well. Are you in the Dallas area? If so start with groups through the VA there are pros and cons. I am a Veteran and work for the VA in Seattle and there are a ton of groups in this area
