Question For Those Calling Patrick Peterson a FS not a CB

Jimmy Smith is even bigger. Why isn't he getting the same hysterical assessment?

Well if it were just the fans talking about this...I could see the argument.

However it is not just fans, it is some scouts as well.

Furthermore I am not sure what Jimmy Smith has to do with it since we would not be trading up and giving away a pick to get Jimmy Smith.

Actually most are more worried about Jimmy Smith and his personal issues and some, like myself, would rather we not take him at all.

Kind of a weird argument to bring up IMO.

I have a feeling that if we traded down, picked up some extra picks and managed to get Patrick Peterson because he somehow in an alternate universe fell on draft day...those that complain about the s/cb would not care so much. But that is just speculation as I know some would still complain.

Let this be known...I want Peterson so it is not a slam on him. Just stating that some scouts have talked about him possibly being a Safety and the odd argument of bringing Jimmy Smith into the equation when people have other problems with him already.

I don't think that is true..from just about everything that I have read, every scout and nfl team has him listed as a cb..i could be wrong..but I haven't heard any scout or any team that lists him as a safety

Jimmy Smith may have been removed from most people's draft boards so that may be why there is no comparisons.

Honestly, I would be fine with drafting Peterson even if he was drafted for FS. I would settle for an Ed Reed type of player if I had to.

No one is saying Peterson is either. In fact people are going out of their way to say "he's no Deion." Yet they think at the same time he will be drafted before where Deion was.

Because all reports have stated that Jimmy Smith's hips are very fluid. Some question whether Peterson has the hips for position. I think he does, but that is the criticism.

I'd agree with you on that, he was certainly drunk when he was behind the wheels of the podium declaring his ball skills as being superior to Asomugha's.

Peterson is shorter and heavier. That in itself makes him quite a bit more stocky than Smith.

Because Jimmy Smith doesnt tackle and Jimmy Smith will probably be suspended at some point early in his career.

I suspect when all is said and done, Smith is one of those guys who takes a huge plunge on draft weekend.

There was alot of talk about it during games that he was playing in by the people calling the game. Its also been mentioned in alot of the write ups about him. So it wasnt just "fans"
