Question For Those Calling Patrick Peterson a FS not a CB

Hostile;3897435 said:
No one is saying Peterson is either. In fact people are going out of their way to say "he's no Deion." Yet they think at the same time he will be drafted before where Deion was.

Strangest stuff I have ever seen about a player. I almost hope we don't get him because morons will lose their mind if someone catches a football on him.

Didn't you say he was the best corner coming out of college since Deion?

To be fair...best CB since deion and second coming of deion can be two different things.

I did, and I stand by that. I did not however say he's the next Deion. Or that he was in any way equal to Deion.

All we want to know is if he can rap or skip practice like Prime Time. That's what's important.

Sorry I misunderstood you. However this means that Patrick is better than the following corners since they've all been drafted after Deion:

Aeneas Williams
Champ Bailey
Charles Woodson
Darrelle Revis
Nnamdi Asomugha
Ty Law

Well, let's see.

Ty Law...pick #23.
Aeneas Williams...3rd round, pick #59.
Darrelle Revis...pick #14.
Nnamdi Asomugha...pick #31. (This pick got mocked when it happened btw.)

Yes sir, I think it is safe to say that a guy being talked about in the top 5 and definitely in the top 10 is rated higher than those guys. To their credit they fully grabbed hold of the NFL experience and became some of the very best at what they do. Luckily we have hindsight upon which to judge. I am quite sure about 10 to 13 teams wish they had not passed on Revis.

I think the two choices below are about in line with where I think he is currently rated. In fact, I compared him to Charles Woodson because of his return abilities and his size. Woodson is taller, but weighs less. He is the same height but faster than Bailey despite weighing more.

Charles Woodson...pick #4.
Champ Bailey...pick #7.

Worth the risk? I think so.

I just question if he is quick enough to deal with guys like Desean Jackson. Now maybe that is not that important because I still think Jackson is going to get destroyed sometime, but it is a consideration. Now Peterson is probably fine dealing with the bigger WRs like Andre Johnson.

Because Jimmy Smith doesnt tackle and Jimmy Smith will probably be suspended at some point early in his career.

I suspect when all is said and done, Smith is one of those guys who takes a huge plunge on draft weekend.

Rahim Moore doesn't tackle either, and not only plays safety but could be the first "true" safety drafted.

Dude, he ran a 4.32 and was pissed that he didn't break 4.3.

Did you not watch or read the Combine shows and articles?

That was plain uneducated.

I am not sure to be honest with you if he could play safety...I don't think or atleast I have reason to doubt he has the wearwithall's to do it...there can be no denial in his talent...it is his ability to the see the field correctly or maybe better put is his ability or lack there of to understand what he is seeing. That maybe something that is coachable...I don't know...if it is coachable he will be special if not he won't be worth a draft pick...

I am not against the kid and if we pick him I will root like heck for him but I think he has too much bust factor (from what I have seen, granted understandably, that it is only from games played and coverage that the TV provided)...

Again if he is special and we select him good for us though at the present moment I see greater needs on this team... but I would never pass a special player up for team needs as I might be able to address them later in the draft or FA.

But if I had the slightest doubt that he will not be able to reach super stardom (which I do) I think the pick is better spent on Smith which I believe at worst possible scenario becomes a career backup which I find very unlikely...

So in the end what I am trying to say is that I find the safer pick and the one which helps the Cowboys most at the moment is a pick of Tyron Smith...

yeah I know no guts no glory :)

Dude, you DO understand the difference between quickness and speed?

THAT is uneducated

No matter how you want to look at it, Peterson's combine numbers were better than DeSean's whether you're talking 40 yard, 10 yard, cone drill, whatever.

The fact of the matter is that it will always take special attention to disrupt guys like DeSean, regardless of who's out there. If you have a guy like Peterson on DeSean, you probably let him jam and give him safety help over the top.

You think Newman has the wheels to keep up with DeSean these days?

And yet in 2009, before our safety play turned to dog turds, we held DeSean to 8 catches for 90 yards in 3 GAMES.

If you look at the numbers, it seems to trend more towards us having a problem with bigger receivers, not smaller, quick ones.

I was pro Peterson to move to safety until he scored a 9 on the wonderlic. I would rather have a dumb CB than a dumb safety.

If we get Peterson, I want him to be a CB, not a safety. We've already seen the damage a dumb safety can do.

If for some reason we think he needs to slim down from 220lbs, then tell him to slim down.

I love this kid's size and speed. He is fast enough to stay with the deshawn jackson's of the world and strong enough to outmuscle the hakeem nicks's.

And he will not be a liability in the redzone like a brandon harris would be . A known favorite of the pro tyron smith sect that are just throwing out garbage about this kid. He's the complete package at CB .

If you are referring to me, my only issue with him is his wonderlic score. (beyond that, I haven't said one negative thing about him) It isn't just low, it's considered below the level of literacy. Is he actually that dumb? I have no idea, but he definitely should have scored above a 9.
