We're thinking of doing our vacation this year out there. Late May, early June most likely.

Best price for tickets to Busch Gardens?

Good restaurants we need to remember?

We'll spend at least a day at the Smithsonian too. More if I have my way. Another day seeing the rest of the Nation's Capital.

Will you be traveling to Va. Beach area as well? I mean, Bush Gardens is like 90% of the way there from DC. :D

I don't know much abouit ticket prices for Bush Gardens, but I'm fairly familiar with DC, NOVA, and the Virginia Beach areas; so I may be able to offer some insight into grub and whatnot there...

What type of restaurants would you be looking for? Family oriented? Upscale? Steakhouses?

For the cheap stuff, one place you may be interested in checking out for lunch is Five Guys...as we've discussed in the "burger" thread. I believe there are nearly 100 or so in Virginia now, so one shouldn't be hard to locate...but the ones in Alexandria and Springfield seem to make the best burgers for some reason.

If you're still hungry for another burger, Clyde's on M Street in Georgetown makes a damn fine one...and is a nice mid-scale atmosphere with a good menu. Busy though.

DC has a TON of smaller basement eateries that offer a tremendously diverse array of foods. Far too many to list, but if you give me a better idea of what you're after, I can try to help.

Let me know if you'll be making it to VB, as I can direct you to some good seafood and one of the best turkey sandwiches (you don't make yourself) I've ever eaten.

My wife's sister lives in Maryland just north of DC. So other than the days in DC and Busch Gardens we would probably be in Maryland more.

I would like to try 5 Guys, and I will definitely find a Bojangles in Virginia and show my family why I am hooked on it even after all these year.

If you like seafood I would recommend Tony and Joe's

Thanks, but I am actually deathly allergic. Crab smells so good to me though.

I had a steak at a seafood house one time and they cooked it on a grill right after a lobster and I woke up with paramedics over me.

Oh ok, no problem.

Uhhh, Busch Gardens is down by the beach, which would be 3, maybe 4 hours drive from the DC area...

I know. We're probably going to stay there for a couple of days and then back to DC for the rest.

Go to Dupont Circle and wear lots of bright pastel colors.

If you're going to be staying down in Williamsburg for a day or two, check out Great Wolf Lodge. It has an indooor waterpark.

Also, while in the DC area, if you want to have one of the best steaks you'll ever taste, check out Sweetwater Tavern in Fairfax. The Drunken Ribeye is worth the trip alone.

lmao...I was trying to think of the name of this brunch place near Dupont cirlce that my ex-girl made me go to once. It was a buffet style brunch with a twist...they have trannies/cross-dressers come out and sing to the crowd the whole time.

I was "lucky" enough (perhaps due to the fact that I was WAY underdressed in a tank top) to have one single me out. This guy was friggin huge, like 6'5" 300lb huge. I'm 6'1" 210 lbs.. and this guy made it entirely too difficult to squirm away from him. ******* tried to give me a lap dance AFTER he pulled my tank top off in front of the customers. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life.

That girl owed me BIG after that fiasco.

I'll be wearing Cowboys gear every single day I am out there. There will be no exceptions.

Ah, I had no idea what Dupont Circle was about, but the pastel colors should have been a clue.

Yeah. I'm guessing superpunk is a regular there.

Another couple of votes from me for Moby Dick House of Kabob and Sweetwater's Drunken Ribeye. And yeah, I'd suggest keeping clear of Dupont, unless you're prepared to re-examine your lifestyle choices.

We're mostly suburb potatoes who stay outside the beltway as much as we can, but I thought the Spy Museum was fun when we went a couple of years ago, and the Smithsonian Natural History Museum is my favorite when family comes to town (dinosaurs and critters for the kids, lots of sparkly things in minerals & gems for the ladies, the dudes get to snicker every time they see the words "homo sapien"). I seem to remember Bureau of Engraving & Printing being a good tour, too. Something about all that money in one place.

Vietnam Memorial is must-visit material--there's really something mystical about that place (and I'm usually not the mystical type). Really liked the newer WWII memorial as well.

Don't have any info about Busch, but if you have any interest in going to Six Flags America, PM me for info.

Buy a pink Romo jersey like Jessica wore at the Eagles game.

LOL

Silverbear, I hadn't told my wife how far Busch Gardens was. Now we're probably going to Six Flags Baltimore instead. I was wanting to ride the Griffon.
