Question: How effective will T.O. be outside of the WCO?

Seeing that T.O. to Dallas is looking more and more likely, it got me to thinking - T.O. has only played in the WCO while with the 49ers and Eagles. Now, of course catching the ball is catching the ball no matter what offense you play, but we run the ball much more than those teams did, and we don't play the dink and dunk style of passing.

So, do you think T.O. can be as effective and put up similar numbers in our offense? And how will T.O. react having a smaller role in the offense (meaning a lesser % of touches)?

If Keyshawn managed to catch 71 passes for 6 TDs and he's super slow, then I would imagine TO could have atleast 90 with 11 TDs.

The old saying sticks here,, if u have a playmaker, you get him the ball.. period. TO will get his touches.. I see TO be more of a 20 yr, in space type reciever for us. Glenn will still be the deep threat, To, the mid range threat, with great YAC ability and Crayton and Witten,, over the middle, tough yards, move the chains type WR. .. I think the mid range ball is Drews' best ball he throws,, so I look for him and TO to get along just fine.

I didn't really see the eagles dink&dunk with TO. He was getting a lot of intermediate and deep passes from what I saw.

Glenn/Crayton/Witten is the best WR combo hes been with, at least in the last few years. How annoyed is he going to become when someone else gets catches?

I don't question his ability to play be it in a standard pro set offense or the WCO. My only concern is him fitting in with the team.

That's exactly what I'm wondering. JJ/MB3 will get at least 25-30 carries a game, and then T.O. will have to share catches with Witten (50-70 receptions), Glenn (60-70 receptions), and Crayton (40-50 receptions), not to mention the screen passes to our RBs (oh wait, scratch that). Bottom line, T.O. will be sharing a lot more than he's used to.

Owens will be very effective. Deadly even. IF he can get the ball thrown to him, that is.

Owens' productively will be directly tied to Bledsoe's protection upfront. The longer we delay in shoring up his offensive line, the lower his numbers will be. Should Bledsoe get good protection, there isn't any reason why his role will diminish. Owens is a clutch receiver. Bledsoe throws to clutch receivers.

The question with Owens is not his ability to play, but his ability to mesh with his coaches and teammates.

:laugh2:

When we have a WR that can actually separate, I think everyone will have their answer.

I don't think TO cares. He only wants to get paid. Dallas needs to get him signed to a contract that even Rosenhaus agrees to so he wont complain about his contract in two years.

We need to make sure we have an escape clause in his contract so should things go south we are not stuck with some big cap hit by a player who is no longer on the team.

Is this even possible? I mean, T.O. tried to renegotiate a seven yr, $49 million after the first year. And with Snyder throwing around monopoly money to mid-level receivers, I'd be surprised to see T.O. happy with his contract after a season or two of good production (see Keyshawn).

Thats true too, but we need to give him clauses that allow TO to become one of the highest paid recievers in the league. No way will he match his former numbers under a BP style offense. Maybe the Cowboys will give Owens roster bonuses throughout the season as long as he is behaving himself.

As long as they protect themself because I sure as heck would not just hand out money to him just to see this blow up in our face.

Yeah but Keyshawn really was underpaid. I can understand his want for a higher salary. Terry Glenn is suppose to get a pay raise this coming season. Owens knew he was going to be cut this year, that is why he wanted to renogotiate his contract.

Keyshawn may have been underpaid, but it remains to be seen if anyone outside the Cowboys is willing to pay him what we were going to this season.

What makes you think Owens was going to be cut this offseason before he began renegotiating?

His large roster bonus. Even the most stout TO hater realize that the Eagles were going to cut him no matter what. They always cut players before their roster bonusese are due.
