Question: If We Beat Seattle, Does This Buy Parcells And Co Another Year???

I say no, giving a beat down to the Seahawks does not impress me. I say if we go to Chicago and win, then a trip to the NFC Championship might convince me to give Tuna and Co another year.

So basically an NFC Championship appearance is the only way I bring Tuna and Co back next year.

What do you guys think???

I don't think Jerry is thinking of firing Parcells at this point. If Parcells doesn't return, I think it's because he chooses not to. I think it's more likely that Zimmer's job is on the line in the playoffs, not Parcells'.

I have a feeling they're BOTH (Zimmer/BP) in a bit of danger and I hope I'm correct here.

I think you are right on the money with this----BP will return if he wants. Zimmer is a gonner.

Why is everyone so sure Zimmer's gone.

Don't get me wrong on this ,I agree he should go ,but has anyone heard any rumblings or is it just your frustrated hopes.

I think you are correct.

He will have to win 2 games to save his job. Even then, Jerry might still pull the plug on him.

Let's all hope you are right.
I can't take another year of coaches not taking responsibility for their team being poorly prepared for the game and being out schemed on a weekly basis.
Lets go get some new blood.
Some new generation coach who is more in tune with todays game.
Mangini,Payton,somebody along those lines.
Young and energetic, thats what this team needs.

I don't see JJ firing Bill. Say what you want about how BP has done up to this point, JJ can't hire another coach with better credentials. It took Holmgren seven years to win a playoff game in Seattle. It took Cowher a decade to win a championship. The idea is to make the team better, not set it back. I don't think you make the team better by replacing the proven Parcells with some hot coordinator, the next version of Chan Gailey.

And I don't see Bill leaving. I don't think he's done coaching, and I don't think anyone else is likely to hand him a team with more talent and a better chance of success than this one. And, frankly, he gets what he wants here. He's not going to find a better situation than this one.

Oh please, none of those coaches had Jerry bankrolling them.

I can agree with Adam, but something has to change. When we had small LB's they were fast, but Bill insist on having bigger LB's. With that is mind, something has to change.

Bill won't be fired. For a number of reasons. First, Bill will step down if we tank Saturday. Second, Jerry will be in the market for a big name high profile coach after Bill is gone -- the types of guys he wants will look very carefully at how he treats coaches. Finally, if Bill wants to stay, it is going to have to be under his terms - one of which will surely be not renewing Zimmer's deal.

Huh? Salary cap buddy. Doesn't freaking matter. All the good teams are spending the same amount of money.

You bring up some valid points, but Zimmer has to go and Parcells needs to find a 3-4 coach to coach his defense.

That's the whole point, Bill has had limitless amounts of cap space and an owner who will spend whatever it takes. OTOH guys like reid have all the space in the world and no cash.

That's true. But I think that if you're smart, and I think JJ is, there's more than one side to the coin. The question isn't 'do I get rid of Bill.' The question is, 'if I get rid of Bill, who do I replace him with.' Who are you confident can come in and do a better job? Somebody like Ron Rivera or Rex Ryan? guys with zero HC experience, but have done a nice job with one side of the ball for a couple of years? Maybe you're willing to roll the dice on somebody like that. But its a crapshoot. But when one of the most successful coordinator-turned-head-coaches Sean Payton tells everybody willing to listen that he was more influenced by BP than anybody he's worked with, it seems to me that you'll be lucky if the guy you wind up with is a clone of the guy you've already got. Which weighs against a change, IMO.

More and more, I'm coming around on getting rid of Zimmer. I think the best qualified guy out there will be Dom Capers. If Crennel gets fired, he's next.
