Or is he going to be the OC similiar to the Wade Phillips situation last year?

i think he should hire an o coordinator. He would be more apt to manage the entire game situation better if he was not responsible for being the offensive coordinator as well. Too much for one man to do.

He might hire an OC but he's going to call the plays. Landry called the plays on offense and defense and was the OC and DC. Red ***** can do it.

Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy won the last two Super Bowls calling plays for the offense so I doubt Garrett is thinking about relinquishing those duties. In fact, McCarthy and Garrett are pretty similar. Both come from QB backgrounds and just the way they act, talk, and carry themselves are similar.

Technically he has 2. A passing game coordinator (John Garrett) and a running game coordinator (Hudson Houck). Sounds to me like he is going to have a hierarchical structure that filters things to him to assess as a group.

The list is quite long of bigtime winning coaches who called their own plays.

He was quite good at playcalling and the offense was extremely productive, even with a backup QB and missing Bryant the last 4 or 5 games.

As a previous poster mentioned, Mike McCarthy and Sean Payton both called their own plays -- and those two offenses did quite fine in the past two Superbowls.

That's not to say that's the best (or worst) approach -- but there seems to be litltle downside.

Didn't Parcells have a similar structure while he was here at one point?
I think post-Payton maybe?

As long as he can devote time during the week to the defensive side of the ball as well as special team then calling the plays on game day is not an issue. In my view Garrett has to be the HC of all not just the offense and if with the help of assistant coaches he can manage to do that then great after all the players have to be accountable to Garrett

Yeah, I believe he is sub-dividing the game planning duties. A passing coordinator and a running coordinator. He will lay the ground work for what he wants from them, they will build the offensive gameday playbook and Garrett will call the plays on gameday.

We need a no huddle coordinator to signal when the other team has the wrong package ,group,on the field and for Romo to start giving hand signals to change plays while shouting nonsense and not let them off the field until we score. Or until their ref. calls for a measurement, thereby let them substitute.
Noticed Peyton clenching his jaws when he was not able to use his no huddle effectively, due to refs spotting the ball and not releasing,or reviewing at bad times.:D

Whatever happened to Paul Chryst from Wisconsin? His name was hot around here for awhile, and now its died down.

And the new WRs coach Jimmy Robinson makes 3.

Word around here (I live in Milwaukee) is that Chryst is getting a big pay day and staying for the near future.
