the idea that Jerry would allow a rookie coach that level of control is laughable. possibly even stupid. you let the guy have the reigns but some decisions ... especially those that might have serious salary cap implications need another level of review. sometimes teams make decisions that the coach doesn't like but really has to live with b/c of practical concerns

Let's see. Jason is a Princeton grad. His wife is a Princeton grad and graduated from Harvard Law School. I doubt he got duped into a contract that was full things he didn't agree with or was unaware of.

Bottom line Jerry is the owner of the team he will be consulted that is no different than other teams. Jerry has the power to hire and fire including Jason. To act like he is not going to have any part is beyond dumb. Main think is for Jason and Jerry to work together for the common goal

Yeah, every bit of coverage that I watched after dinner focused on the "Jason will have the final say" clause. I wish Jerry would have just communicated that to Jason privately and I hope that it turns out to be the case, but I guess it's really the only newsworthy element to come out of the media session since Jason's hiring was a surprise to no one.

Thing is I don't need to see a contract to know who is in charge. I don't think it is a bad thing I think success or failure comes down to how these guys work together.

Listen .. there is not an owner in the league that it unable to hire or fire any coach or player that he wants to hire or fire.

The media makes a big deal out of it because it is Jerry Jones and the fans inhale the media's propaganda and fall right into their trap with it.

During the Jason Garrett as head coach press conference earlier, the media spent half their questions discussing the "who has say so over personnel" and each time Jerry answered it, they asked it again trying to trap him into giving them a sound bite or headline.

Jason Garrett is a smart guy and there is no way someone with his background would be forced to play any specific player or retain any specific coach. Garrett is not a Campo, Phillips, Gailey, etc. coach who is just happy to have a job. Garrett knows he is good at what he does and knows that if Jerry won't let him make decisions that another team out there will.

The biggest difference with Jason Garrett though is Jerry trusts him and his ability to make decisions and assess players and coaches unlike what he had with Campo, Phillis, etc. A lot of that is because of Garrett's background as a player under several good coaches and exposure to his father's scouting background for most of his life.

It's time for the media and fans to move on from the "who's in charge" phase and focus more on the "how do we right this ship" phase.

My father is a lawyer and he has said every contract has loopholes and outs.

Not all contracts have deliberate loopholes and outs. But lots of contracts are handled through arbitration when handling breaches, etc.

I don't think that those contracts mean very much in terms of day to day operation. Jerry and Jason will figure out how they are going to work together on various issues and their ultimate functionality will probably have little to do with what is in or not in that employment agreement. Those contracts usually come into play when either party wants out and needs to assert a breach to get paid or released, etc. Sort of a Kiffin / Davis scenario.
