Question re: Swaim's draft day trade

I keep seeing people say that the Cowboys gave up two picks for Swaim; however, I think they just traded their 6th in 2016 for the Niners 7th in 2015.

That's just 1 pick. Am I missing something?

It was a typical one round for one year in the future trade....a future 6th for a current 7th.

I think the kid is a starting TE in the NFL one day. He wasn't used much at Texas. Not a lot of tape on him. Good job by our coaches.

Maybe those people view it as a player "costs" the pick used on him. In Swaim's case the cost was two picks - the pick next year that we gave up and the pick we used this year. I'm with you. I view it as he cost 1 extra pick.
