I was just wondering if there is some sort of sucession plan, or maybe better put, is there a "young Ireland" who is being groomed under J Ireland?

I know before BP left, one of the best things he did for this organization is alter the scouting department. Was there a guy we are grooming behind J Ireland (just in case, if you know what I mean)?

:starspin Good point, and I hope that Jones has some type of contingency plan in place, let's hope so anyway.

he better...because here is one thing we do know...Jerry will always maintain the title of GM in Dallas...and whether people want to admit it or not...that is all about ego. Luckily it has worked out so far this year...but we will never keep a personell long term because eveuntually they will all want to leave because they will never be able to have the GM title

As Doomsday101 pointed out, Ireland was hired before Parcells and he was being groomed prior. He was always seen as the person to succeed Lacewell.

There's one scout that has been with them C........ something, but I cant think iof his name right off.

But, I did ask that very question on the David Smoak show, www.ktbb.com to JJT jacque taylor a media writer, and he said to his best knowledge that he didnt think you had to worry about jeff ireland going anywhere, since he is head of scouting department etc.

He did say that you might want to worry about the cowboys losing sparano, and on espn today they were mentioning sparano, todd boyles, to name a few head coaches possiblities from the cowboys for the dolphins. ESPN said that parcells wanted or seemed to want someone that he knew how he wanted players and coaching style. that also fits in with another name al groh from virginia.

ESPN also said that parcells after season would be over, probably make his move since you cant contact coaches now till after their season is over. And that parcells more than likely wanted to get bigger, just like he did in Dallas. So look for in my mind possibly parcellls go after his guys, maybe even Julius Jones since he would be a free agent next year, and we probably would lose Flozell Adams, since he is big.

I also will figure that you will see the cowboys lock up Chris Canty since he is big, barber, newman so parcells cant get at them. I am hoping we lock up hamlin too.

Parcells will probably pick up Tyson Thompson if he isnt released before the end of the year by the cowboys. Only other player I am thinking about parcells might go after would be on special teams and that would be keith davis, since he is our best special teams player. I dont think Parcells would want Roy Williams in a trade.

Wants Jerry retires and Stephen takes over we will hire a GM.

Stephen is the bean counter in the family; I hope he is the one taking over the reigns from Jerry.

Don't worry--Mr. Jones has options in place......not sure who at this time.

I think it is clear that Stephen will be the President & CEO when Jerry retires but agree then the Cowboys will hire a GM. The only question is how much Ireland wants the GM title in comparison with head of scouting. I wouldn't be surprised to see Parcells raid the Cowboys of as many coaches/players he can get his hands on. Same goes for many of the scouts if Ireland goes over.

Sure hope Jerry is ready to stop any raid.

BTW: Why do people keep thinking Julius would play for Parcells? Doubt Parcells wants him and doubt Julius would play for Parcells in any case.

Parcells wants a lot of people. Few people want to work with Parcells. I think the Miami owner will have to write some hefty checks to get people to even come to Miami to work with Parcells. And the early losing seasons will weigh heavy.

Whereas, Jerry Jones is well liked, pays well, and is easy to work with.

For money he would. For all the gripping that went on about how Parcells hurt Jones this season without BP has been Jones worst season.

People don't want to work with Parcells? That's just plain untrue -- young coaches all over the league -- at least the ones that have some sack -- relish the opportunity to work under him because in coaching circles, the Parcells stamp of approval is a ticket to good things.

Just look around the league -- many of Bill's assistants, even those like Todd Haley that we thought were crap got promotions. Coaches want to work for Bill.

I agree. Falling off the Parcells coaching tree can only help you.

Ireland was here before parcells, parcells promoted him not hired him.

The number 2 guy is Tom Ciskowski, he oversees all college talent.

I dont know if he is the guy that would get the job or not and I do not know if that is something he wants. He basically is never interviewed and never talks to the media, so its all speculation.

I dont think garrett is going anywhere though.

Bill isnt coaching the dolphins, so I am not worried about him raiding our roster. And I dont think julius jones is dying to get back into an organization run by the tuna, and since he is an UFA he can sort through offers and decide where to go.

I'm likely in the minority but I would be surprised if Bill fired Cam Cameron -- unless he could get a guy like Cowher.

We are all focused on Garrett as a HC but Cameron is very much in the same mold - except he's established himself over a much longer period of time.

abersonc, now thats a good ideal about cowher, but in reality i dont think that wont work, 2 strong personalities like cowher and parcells, both stubborn, dont see that working together, and cowher probably doesnt want to wait about 2-3 years to rebuild, i am thinking 3 years for dolphins but you never know with parcells;

i would be worried about parcells raiding the cowboys, remember like on espn, parcells wants to get bigger, and run the 3-4 like he did with other teams, he tried the 4-3 with us, it did work, but dolphins defense is getting really old, so he most likely will want a coach that will run the defense he wants, and similar style of offense

as far as raiding, parcells since he will be doing the drafting and signing players, remember they were saying that with the owner of the dolphins and parcells being friends, and the owner assuring bill he would stay as owner, then bill wanted the assurance like with jerry jones that he can go spend big money on free agents, remember jerry jones spent about 40 million on free agents the first year, fergueson, rb, cant think of his name right now, ot, keyshawn, glenn, and riveria, i think all of those the first year, but not sure if all of those first year, but close to it

lets see, fergueson and the ot were big men, along with riveria being big, and the rb was a big back, more so a cross between fullback and halfback, most of those being with the jets, so look out cowboy players

as far as julius jones, i think he might consider it, depending on how much free agency money he will throw at jones, and remember the first year, jones had some big runs for parcells, and so that in itself would might tempt jones to play for parcells.

big men and former players i see parcells going after,
first i think he might try to get keyshawn to play wr, but not sure keyshawn would want to do that, knowing its a more building with the dolphins than the cowboys, next as a big man, that would be flozell adams, since parcells always like flozell, next would be canty as RDE, so the cowboys had better lock him up, next might be tyson thompson if he cant get j jones, and next would be keith davis, a special teams ace, parcells always wanted his special teams to be good, and he might if our snapper L .... isnt signed, he might go after him,

i am not sure if bledsoe would ever play for parcells ever again, knowing how he felt betrayed by parcells for switching to romo in 2006 middle of season, so some other QB i think parcells will bring in

parcells might go after nate jones and reeves since they will be free agents, but i never have really liked either of them, reeves has done a little better though this year, but not much, in 4 years
