Question regarding kicks...

I can't remember if I heard this during the Packers/Cards game, or our game, but the announcers were talking to a kicker about his range, and appearantly the kicker stated that while he kicked X distance during warm-ups, the kicks generally will travel up to 2 yards farther when the stadium is full.

Could someone explain why that might be?

Air is warmer due to the heat from the crowd?

It was during the Packers/Cards game and apparently Neil Rackers had said it. He said the ball travels farther when the stadium is full because the air is warmer.

It was the Cards game and they were talking about Rackers.

He said he could hit about a 55 yarder in a game but was hitting from 53 in warmups.

Things travel farther in warm moist air. Those hazy, hot and humid days of summer for instance, go drive golf balls and see how much farther they travel compared to cooler, drier days of spring and fall. Same thing with baseballs too, more HR's when the weather is that way.

This is something that I had never heard before..but I am glad that is the case..

I am expecting a packed house in the metrodome on sunday, should be really hot and smelly in there..ball should travel well...Suisham should be good from 37, now that he has those 2 extra yards..
