What teams have a dynamic duo at the safety position?

Where do their defenses rank?

Do these same teams have good great or average D Lines?

I ask because if we get the kid from Florida State and put him with Byron Jones and you tell me those two with an average D Line will make the Defense better then I'm all in on the kid at 4

Seattle is probably the gold standard at the safety position. Last time I checked, their defense is pretty damn good.

There's not many good safety's in this league let alone tandems. But the few that have them are the best defenses in the league. Some teams defenses start from the line out. Seahawks start from the secondary on down. You are going to have some holes somewhere but IMO secondary is good enough to win with a great line. I'm not sure what changes if we have a great secondary with no pass rush.

1. Seattle
2.-32. Everyone Else

Seattle is very fortunate and rare. And Chancellor is still a liability in coverage, which is why they play a ton of Cover 1 and Cover 3 and don't put him in positions to be exposed.

Other than that, nobody in the league has this mystical combination that everyone thinks just exists ready to create. BUT we potentially CAN get there by selecting Jalen Ramsey as a S this year or Myles Jack as a S/nickel LB.

Well I think the defense will surely be better, but to make huge strides we need to improve the front 4. The rotation we currently have is somewhat laughable and by far the weakest part of the team.

Yes our lack of a consistent pass rush is the weakest part. Fix that and the secondary play becomes better.

Arizona runs a hybrid scheme with two FS, and it works out well for them. I wonder if the Cowboys could do something similar with Jones/Ramsey.

Do you guys like Vonn Bell Safety from Ohio State ?

It is all academic, lads.
Our safeties suck and no listing of others' riches or poverties will change us for the better.

2nd maybe even 3rd... hopefully 3rd

Saw on NFL Insiders where across the board they feel Joseph is the most plug and play secondary player in the draft - even more so than Ramsey. Ramsey is the better athlete who has the highest upside in the draft, but they said nobody is more NFL ready than Joseph.

He's an interesting pick that's for sure. I don't think he makes it to the 3rd.

IMO, we already have 2 thumpers with coverage liabilities in Wilcox and Church. They should both be SS's as many have been asking for Wilcox to move there for quite awhile. We have never had an FS with massive range and speed ever. If we can't get Ramsey, T.J. Green looks like a great prospect with value in the 3rd round. He supposedly led Clemson's secondary and got them into the correct coverages, so he should have the football IQ. Coach up his tackling a bit and that spot should be locked down. We've seen enough thumpers agitate the hell out of the fan base long enough.
