I've always wondered this, and wonder it more than ever.

Does anyone know/heard what his teammates think of him starting?

Are they good with it?
Does it cause animosity because he has clearly not produced?

Just wondering...I can't imagine players aren't a fan of a hard-working guy that has earned all that has come to him like a Crayton or a Ratliff versus someone that was gifted a job.

Note, I'm not saying any of this is Roy W's fault (other than his performance, but not the entire situation)

Who in the hell is Row? The last thing this team needs is another player with a sir name of Williams.

Unless someone as vocal as Patrick Crayton volunteers his opinion, I doubt that we will hear any players commenting openly on that particular subject. My guess is that most players are going to take a sit-back-and-watch approach and formulate their own opinions of how well the coaching staff will utilize all of the receivers' skill sets during the season.

You're so wrong! :laugh2: I'm changing the title. :D

Funny pointing out someone's spelling, then missing the boat on the joke. It's "surname" not "sir name".

He is very respected on this team.

Is he? I would have guessed the players like him ok, but that he's given some distance because of the dark cloud over his head. Again, just going off of impressions, he doesn't seem to be Tony's favorite guy, either, though Tony's always careful to say the right thing regarding him.

he is probably viewed in the locker room like he is by many fans, with indifference on some level.

He is not a bad guy so there is no reason to have any problems with him.

but it has to mean something that romo barely talked to him for over a year.

You see him in the Tulius videos. Is he anything but engaging with teammates in them? The guy supports the team, works his butt off, and loves the Cowboys. Why wouldn't he be accepted?

Really, and how we know this. If they were working together over the off season on their timing.....but yet they didn't talk much to each other..

Because he said it directly, just like that word for word to gina miller on the score on cbs11 two weeks ago.

he said romo didnt talk to him at all in 08 when he got there and that they didnt even talk enough to not have a relationship.

He said it started to get better last year but still wasnt a relationship and said it finally started to change this offseason when they started hanging out and playing video games and throwing balls on the field.

Outside of Crayton, no one has a reason to think negatively of the guy.

I haven't particularly noticed him in the Tulius videos.

I like RW just fine. He's an odd-duck, though, and has mentioned things in the past about how he now plays video games with Tony where they had a somewhat cool relationship before. There was the flare up over carrying pads this summer that was blown out of proportion, but doesn't imply all that much respect.

I'm not at all surprised that he's accepted, and he does work his butt off and does love the Cowboys. I always suspect you have inside info, and when you said 'very respected' it was stronger language that I would have guessed. I wouldn't have asked if it were a case of him being liked or accepted. That much is pretty obvious.

He underperforms for his salary. That's reason enough in most workplaces.

He's referencing the recent rambling RW interview where Roy talks about how his relations with TR has improved this offseason.

He's a cut up and makes guys laugh. I know of one player who is angry at the media for the way Roy is treated. It is an Offensive teammate that is well respected by this forum.

Roy would not be resented due to his salary - Only if there is a perception that he is dogging it. Otherwise no.

With a roster of 53 I'm sure out of the 52 other players on the team some are closer to Roy than others pretty typical on all teams at all levels.

There's always going to be a few players who don't like another player on the team or don't feel they should get as much playing time as they do get. Happens on every team. You'll see that quite a bit when some reporter says that a teammate said that this player is no good, etc. Hell, reporters live for that stuff even if that player is generally beloved by the rest of the team. Keyshawn couldn't help but rip into Wayne Chrebet, a quintessential tough, hard working player that everybody on the Jets loved and had no shot of being the Jets' X receiver.

But, that's how some people are.

I don't think Roy has been 'gifted' a starting position, simply because I don't have a lot of faith in any of the backups not named Dez Bryant at this point. Maybe Ogletree in a year or two, but Crayton is a guy that struggles to get open and so does Hurd. If those guys were easily better than Roy, he wouldn't be starting. Instead Crayton was probably marginally better than Roy and he didn't start. Plus, he did punt returns and most teams don't like their starters doing punt returns because of injury.
