Are fans going to get pissed when he's basically just a decoy that will make a few plays here and there until Romo gets back? I'm a huge Romo and Dez fan, but watching this team this year, I realize that Romo makes EVERYTHING work. There is no more important player that's played for the Cowboys in the last few seasons and it's not even close.

The question should be how long until Dez gets pissed that the guys we have at QB can't get the ball to him . He might want to push his return date back to coincide with Tonys lol.

I agree about Romo's importance to this team, no one will argue this point. I don't think Cassel will have any problem getting him the ball though. I don't know if there's anyone better fighting for a contested ball than Dez. He just needs to get the ball near his neighborhood.

Lol Dez will not just be a decoy. Dude is the best reciever in the league. He's gonna make big plays even with a backup quarterback. We saw it with Jon Kitna. Dez is loads better than he was a rookie. Like you saw Sunday. Those situations where Terrance won't fight for the football. Dez will and will come down with the ball 9/10. Also on the goal line he is sorely missed.

Exactly. Dez and Kitna were awesome together in 2010. I think they went 5-3 through that stretch too.

With Kitna playing in Romo's place, Dez had 296 yards in 6 games (49 yards per game) and 2 TDs.

The Cowboys with Kitna and Dez went 2-3 over the stretch they played together.

Decent rookie WR numbers -- although nothing particularly eye popping.

Note: Dez missed the last 3 games of the season when Kita was playing due to a fractured ankle.

Dez was also basically the fourth receiver in the pass game behind Austin, Witten, and Roy. Pretty good numbers for a kid who was still pretty raw as a rookie. Wasn't nearly as polished as he is now. Kitna also isn't as mobile as Cassel is now because of the age factor.

Honestly, I'll be relieved to see Dez back on the field, but I fear that Dez won't be able to
do the things that makes Dez great. I'm not talking about his foot, but more about the inability to get the ball to Dez where he can begin to rip and tear (see last year's Cardinal's game).

Yeah, but that's no where near Odell. Smh

Dez won't have Brandon Weeden throwing him the football. Cassel as pathetic as he was in the second half at least showed some signs of being an NFL quarterback. Even if Dez isn't as productive as we're accustomed to seeing his presence makes a massive difference to everyone on the field basically. No more doubles for Witten and Beasley. No more getting mugged by #1 corners for Terrance. In the run game we got to face six man boxes.

I agree about Weeden vs. Cassell.

Just wish we'd get confirmation on Dez's return for the Seahawk's game.

Had Dez played the other night we are in first place today.

He's on the bench on my FF team behind Keenan Allen and Mike Evans.

I'm not saying Dez won't make a difference. Contested balls, he'll definitely be great to have back. That'll be a decent change, since Williams has to have 3 steps and the ball to hit in his numbers.

The ones I'm referring to is those Romo/Dez back shoulder throws. That's such a timing thing and based on talent. The only thing close we saw was Cassell miss BIG on a comeback that was a pick six. He stared him down AND threw it a full 1-2 seconds late. It was as bad of a throw as you could see a QB make.

As long as we win, he can be the highest-priced decoy on the field for all I care.

Did you miss the back shoulder fade to Brice Butler?

BRICE BUTLER. You telling me he can't have the same connection with the most dominant offensive weapon in the game?
