Questions for JG

To be fair, I want JG to succeed. To that point, some questions I have from today are-

Why not give Buehler a shot at the 53 yd fg? I heard Aikman's explanation, but you can't gameplan around what you think your kicker won't do.

4th and 1, but penalty is accepted for 3rd and 11. The percentages are in favor of making 4th and 1, but at least there is a chance that they will run the ball, which we can defense well. Giving them another pass chance really plays in their favor.

Play calling with 1st and 10 from the 42 on the final drive= attrocious. We left timeouts on the board. Looks like we played scared.

Last play- 4th and 10. Why attempt a 59yd fg from the kicker you didn't want to take a 53? We have playmakers all around and we leave it up to our kicker with an unlikely 59yd try?

I'm glad we're at least competitive, but if JG wants to hold on to this job, he's got to learn from these situations and hopefully do better next time.

He's a poor playcaller and decision maker. That won't be different with him as head coach.

I think eventually our emotions will calm down and realize that JG is also
learning as he progresses...He too will look back and analyze what he did
and learn from it...Am sure he will...just like the rest of the staff and players.

Bill Belichick's famous 4th and 2 call at his own 28 or 29 line is still
debated...I think it was stupid, but he learned from it

JG should be announced Dallas Cowboys Head Football Coach based
on the performance tonight alone..... He made a dull 17-0 game a
closely lost 30-27 game with a team that has nothing to play for where
he took charge of less than 3 weeks ago...

I can just imagine what he will do when he get an off-season to plan
and hire his staff and prepare his team

Can't wait for next season TBH

I don't think JG's situation regarding going for it on 4th down is anything like BB's. A)Belicheck is just an arrogant guy who made a dumb decision, but if he's right the game is over. B)It was a totally different game situation.

I just don't understand why, if you are going to go for it at the 21 on 4th down, you kick the fg next time when you are down inside the 10. I don't mind going for it, but he doesn't seem to have any rationale as to why if he didn't again later. Was the 3 points more important later?

Was the Kitna play call Sunday a poor? I just think he's wearing too many hats, I hope he'll understand a offensive coordinator is needed.

Actually, I thought it was a good call not letting Buehler kick it. He isn't consistent. Instead, we put, pin the Saints in deep and force them to punt the ball.

On the last play, it's 4th and 10. You have to gamble then, either tying the game or going for it on fourth down.

Also, remember, Jason Garrett inherited this team. This is Wade's team. He may be stuck with these players. But if he gets the job, maybe he doesn't gamble on leaving the kicking game to Buehler.

I suspect if Garrett gets the head coaching gig, there's going to be plenty of changes.

Sure, the Kitna call was good. But everybody's a good play caller until they do something stupid. This team is incredibly disciplined until they jump offsides.

The amount of bad playcalls he makes is shocking.

Did you hear his explanation in the postgame PC? It was one of the first questions he was asked, and he seemed to be confused about the distance of it. He mentioned that it was longer than the other one, when in fact they were the same distance.

Who knows why. Maybe they need to work out some things with the headset communication.

I think JG playcalling kept Dallas in the game. Dallas made alot of big plays on good play calls by Garrett. I think Red doesnt have confidence in Buehler and thats why he didnt go for 53 yard field goal. He was forced to use him on 59 yard field goal. Bottom line...if Roy Williams holds onto ball...Dallas wins and we talk about Garrett mystique continuing.

I am not comparing the two situations. I am just throwing an example of a debated call that went wrong with the best coach in football today and how he must have learned from it...JG is a smart guy and he will learn from it

My problem with the last possession is that we had 2 time outs but we didn't try to work the middle of the field. We kept going for quick outs to stop the clock, but didn't try to gain enough yardage to shorten the field goal. It's hard to tell what the defense was giving us on that drive, but I really didn't want to end the game by relying on Beuhler's foot.

Yep, that was a major gaffe. Can't go out with two time outs in your pocket like that.

I stated this exact point in another thread earlier, I couldn't agree more! The TE's killed them all day, why not hit either Witten or Bennett down the middle? Heck even a delayed draw would have picked up some nice yards in my opinion.

I had 2 drives that still kill me. The frist one ended up 4th n 1 and a pitch to Barber was called. Why not let Felix or Tashard have that play. Barber is just too slow.
The last series oh why couldn't he call something different. Even a draw play or something towards the middle of the field.

Oh well, I will be here rooting for the Boys to take out Indy next week.

A few of us commented about how impressed we were with the REdzone execution Sunday vs Detriot (and vs NYG too) and how it seemed to be a theme so far under Garrett: hard work to improve exectution.

I think that sort of just fell out the window today. Maybe they were just tired b/c of the short week, but guys looked a bit slow, Kitna had more than his share of bad passes (behind the receivers a few times I recall).

Austin needs to sit in the doghouse for a little while IMO. Drops drops drops.

The Dline is so very inconsistant w/ the pressure that it leaves a weak 2ndary totally exposed. Those two negatives do not make a positive at all.

I was thinking the same thing. So was Aikman. I'm no pro football coach, but it's amazing so many of us saw the same thing yet the Cowboys couldn't.

I'm most disappointed because I thought we were done with these heart breaking defeats. It was the same kick in the nuts that the Washington game gave me. I want Garrett to succeed, but I don't like the idea of on the job training.
