Just a factual question here.

Did Carpenter get in the game on D yesterday? I know he hasn't played much but with the TOP and the interior D getting worn down, I would think that he'd get a handful of snaps.

i think this question is what the most frustrating thing is for most of the fans with the whole Bobby Carpenter issue...

we all keep hearing about how he is a bust, waste of a 1st round pick, etc...

but to my knowledge, and maybe i'm just not seeing him, but i don't think he's gotten more than like 10 total snaps on defense this whole season, and he's only in on special teams...

someone in the media really needs to ask Wade about this IMO, b/c who knows if the coaches are seeing something that makes him ineffective on defense, or if they are so much more confident in Akin, Bradie, and Burnett that they feel they don't ever need to sub someone else in?

I think overall it's just more frustrating that he is becoming a "bust" not because of bad play, but because of NO play

I didnt see him on any d plays...saw him on special teams

honestly I cant remember the last time I saw him on the field on defense...maybe he got in some snaps vs NYJ at the end, otherwise I dont recall any

As late as last year Bradie James was a wasted pick, and so was Kevin Burnett.

I agree with this.

And I'd also add that I haven't seen anything from Ayodele this year that makes him 'untouchable' as far as Carpenter getting some snaps in his place.

I think giving him some playing time serves two purposes:

1) See what he has or hasn't got when it counts. If he can't play fine - make that determination and move on.

2) Showcase him for a possible offseason trade. At this point, given his contract numbers and lack of playing time, I can't see him having a lot of trade value around the league. At least give the rest of the league some tape on the kid if you are looking to move him.

Again, I haven't seen any stellar play out of Ayodele anyway. I don't think there should be a significant dropoff by giving Carpenter some playing time.

Very few players make immediate impacts. Most develop into solid performers.

carpenter is playing with that partial tear in his quad and I would imagine it is limiting him.

at the same time, I think we are managing without him. I really would love to see him making plays all over but I cant complain about the defense.

I mean, honestly I would never play him in front of burnett on the nickel and odd sets and if he isnt healthy he really cant challenge ayodele.

Anybody other than dbair going to answer the question? I didn't get to see the game, so I was curious.

I didn't realize he was playing through an injury...I wouldn't mind seeing him spell Ayodele on occasion though if healthy.

I have went over the game pretty good and I didn't see him either, but I wasn't looking for him.

Also I dont think the OP is saying he is a wasted pick, I think he just wants to know if he got on the field.

Most of this board would have been calling for Aikman's release during his first season.

More truth to this than some will admit.

I would not have been one of those

and anybody suggesting that would have been subjected to immediate slamming in the forum

I didn't see him at all. The last time I remember seeing him on D was in Buffalo, when he let Robert Royal (I think that was the TE) run right by him for a big first down. He might have played a few plays after that, but I don't think it's been many since around that time.

And it is frustrating that he's not even good enough to give our starters even a little break. I don't think he has the guts. Justin Rogers shows up about ten times more often on ST than Carp does.

Let's hope it's all the injury and that when he heals up he'll be better, because it looks to me like that's his only hope for doing anything in the future.

Given his strengths at Ohio State, combined with his amazing mustache, I grow more disappointed that he can't crack the starting lineup every day.
