Sorry for bringing this garbage back up but......

How are teams able to meet with draft picks?

They're not.

They were able to have one meet/greet/introductory presser and that's it.

Oh, so just make that meet and greet last a few months and take place in the weight room.

Think that'd fly?

If he never leaves, still counts as the same meeting right?

Tyron Smith has already had a press conference with Jerry and Stephen.
I apologize for misunderstanding your question. As another poster pointed out, yes they were allowed to conduct various promotional activities. I mean, the first round of the draft itself is one big promotional activity between the new players and management.

As far as negotiating contracts, workout routines, training, etc, those activities are prohibited.

Um, no. That would not fly.

I mean, if you're determined to think of ways to cheat, that's fine. But it's silly to try and think of ways to cheat while desperately trying to couch such methods into a technically-not-illegal fashion. Doing those things would be a violation of the league's lockout.

Do you really think I was seriously suggesting he sleep in the locker room for the next two months?

That was before the temporary stay was granted.

Is that still the case? I was thinking that the first rounders had the chance to do this stuff on Friday the day after they got selected by their teams. But when the 8th Circuit put a stay on Nelson's injunction, the lockout was back on and the rest of the draft picks were out of luck.

Another quick lockout question:

When will we find out if theres football next year. Or not?

From what I recall, that was always the case for the draft picks during the lockout. I forget from where I read it, PFT, twitter, etc, but basically they get to have the one meeting w/the team and then that's it.

I don't think they were supposed to get playbooks while the lockout is going on, so that means the few hours it was lifted, those draft picks could get playbooks. The rest are out of luck.

Hopefully some of the team leaders are making copies of the playbooks for the draftees.

I honestly don't know what you're suggesting. You're asking questions about ridiculous hypotheticals meant to break both the letter and spirit of the rules of the lockout.

Well, it was a joke.

There's certainly no absolutely certain final date to decide that. General consensus is if the lockout ends in early August, we'll have the regular season as currently scheduled. If it ends in late August to early September, we'll still have a 16 game regular season, but with some rescheduling.

As for what the date is that they would have to cancel the entire season? I don't think many people think that is remotely in the realm of possibility so it would all be guesswork. IMHO, probably around early to mid October.
