-I don't think anyone envisioned Lamb dropping to 17, some thought perhaps Ruggs had an outside chance, but the likes of Lamb/Jeudy were more wishful thinking. I can imagine the team running a lot of 3 WR sets, just too talented to keep anyone on the sidelines. On the downside, I think it will take a little time for Lamb and Dak to get on the same page, he is more of like Dez then a Cooper. Will be in tight coverage the majority of time, have to trust he will catch the football.

-Was really worried about the CB position after the team decided not sign a veteran stop gap to replace Bryon Jones. Thought team may of backed themselves in a corner, needing to reach to fill a need, ala the Atlanta Falcons. Not only did they draft a top 5 CB in the class, they double dipped at the position. Kind of reminds me of the Jenkins/Scandrick picks years ago. Team now has 5, talented young CB's. Holdovers better be ready for fierce competition.

-It was a very smart decision to draft Tyler Biadasz, who appeared to be hand picked by MM. They now have a lot of depth within the interior. I wonder if they see McGovern more of a Guard now. Connor Williams could eventually become the team's super utility lineman, having the ability to backup all 5 positions.

-How in the world did the Cowboys land Bradlee Anae at the end of the 5th round. Most saw him as a top 100 pick. No, he didn't test well, nor doesn't possess elite traits, but he has a tremendous track record of production.

Don’t agree with much in regards to lamb.

Well, someone needs a lot of practice time at LT. I suspect that T. Smith's back will keep him on the bench even more this year.

Agreed with all your takes.

With regard to Anae I wasn’t surprised he dropped. He was a productive college player, but I’m not sure he has a defined position in the NFL. That said in Nolan’s defense he can come in as a designated pass rusher and provide quality snaps there.

We’ll see if he can adapt to NFL-caliber athletes and talent on a regular basis.

Lamb is simply an outstanding addition. When we go 11 personnel, we can run and throw at will. Crazy, off the charts offensive potential.

I like the corners, but will have to see it to believe it in terms of impacting our turnover ratio positively. It’s simply been forever since we have been good in that dept, just can’t imagine what being good at forcing turnovers on a regular basis would look like lol...

Gallimore is a solid pick in the 3rd. Hopefully he can get going early and learn from McCoy.

I LOVE the Biadasz pick and I could care less about the trade. The dude fell because of past injuries and not working out— and I trust the Dallas medical evaluators. This guy is a great response to losing Frederick and I am looking fwd to seeing him on the field.

Anae— love the motor and production and he is a violent, nasty finisher. Outstanding selection at that point in the draft.

We still need help at TE and a swing tackle would be nice. Could also stand to see some competition at P and some LBers that can add some depth and STs value would be sweet.

All in all— this draft was amazing and we added value at every pick. Great job by the FO and personnel dept

FWIW we HAVE speed guys in Gallup and Cooper who can streak down the field. What we needed was an athletic guy who can go get the ball. That's Lamb. Good complement to the other 2.

3 1B receivers means you don't need a stud TE. Imagine Schultz will actually be the starter at TE now unless Jarwin can improve his blocking since we should be in 3-1-1 formation a lot.

This new regime isn't about finding players that fit their scheme, rather finding the best players and play to their strengths. Anae could be one of those football players that succeeded due to effort and determination.

I'm not questioning the selection of Lamb what so ever, just feel like he and Dak will need a little time to get on the same page. For example, it took Kurt Warner some time to trust Larry Fitzgerald. Usually covered, have to trust the receiver will make the catch. I believe by the end of next year, Lamb will become the team's #1 WR.

Hell I would run out a formation with 3 WR's and 2 RB's. Pick your poison!

A few more observations:

No flashy draft moves; they truly let the draft come to them.

No obvious red flags; no reaching in the second for an injured first rounder that dropped.

Generally big school players - especially the first 3 picks.

No real drama

Every year someone drops in the first round and this year it was Lamb. It seems like teams are more focused on speed this year - maybe because the Chiefs won the SB? Lamb is an excellent receiver but is he the best fit for the Cowboys in 2020? Ruggs would have been a better fit, maybe Jeudy a better fit than Lamb. But what Lamb gives them is flexibility and depth. I feel bad for Devin Smith because he could be the odd man out, although Cedrick Wilson could be that guy too. In 2 years when the Cowboys can cut Cooper loose, we may really appreciate the fact that Lamb fell to Dallas at 17.

I love the Cowboys CB squad this year now. They have quality depth. Unlike most people, I like Awuzie and while he had a bad slump in the middle of the season, I thought he played better towards the end. He lost his confidence for a while but I can see him competing to be the #1 CB again. The Reggie Robinson pick was brilliant. I am a little concerned about Diggs's speed which forces him to play a little too physical. I just hope he is not going to be a target of the refs. Diggs will do a nice job against the TEs of the Eagles.

I like Biadasz. I think he could be a steady player for them. I would not have traded up to get him. Normally, I oppose trading away future draft picks but the Cowboys are expecting 3 or 4 comp picks next year. But I like accumulating a lot of picks and picking a lot of players especially on days 2 and 3. This was a deep draft and there were good players available in both the 5th and 6th rounds. This is one reason I thought trading down in the 1st was a good idea - until Lamb showed up at 17.

Anae was a good pick in the 5th but the DE spot is crowded right now, especially if they plan on using Crawford at RDE. I think Aldon Smith is going to play and play well. I also think Gregory is going to play. Joe Jackson is going to make a big improvement this year. Anae has his work cut out for him.

Great draft overall. Hope we as fans don't overrate the day 3 picks as usual. But all of them should not be overrated at this point either.
By that, I mean...in the past...

Again great draft, that everyone seems to be happy with. They got value at every pick. There are no Bo Scarboroughs or Darius Jackson or Rico Gathers to anoint to the HOF in this draft, as fans often do (that is what I meant about over rating) but just a good solid draft where all can contribute now, or in a few years.

I was not high on drafting DE's in the mid rounds when not really need at the time such as Russell, Tapper, I think a few others, possibly Armstrong, but will see what his 3rd year brings. But I do feel better about Anae far more better than the other picks, as he was BPA, a value pick and also a need. Glad they did this.

Loved the Biadasz pick, as he was ranked from what I seen anywhere from a 3rd to a 5th round. Initially I questioned trading 2 5th round picks, however since sleeping on it (I fell asleep for 30 minutes after the pick. LOL), it was a great trade, as there have been bad trades in the past, as we all know. This pick allows them to shift players around on the OL. Instead of relying on Looney, Redmond, McGovern to compete for the C spot, we now have a tru C to compete. Therefor allowing McGovern to take over LG and Williams to possibly be the swing tackle.

We have 2 CB's now, one will start, the other possibly start in. a year or so. We have CB's with expiring contracts, so this covers part of the future at the position as well and an immediate need. I didn't know anything about Robinson, but I liked the pick. Also a ST's player.

Loved the draft a QB in the 7th. These are usually players a team picks, to see, well, we need a guy here, so let's take a flyer on him. Well, take that flyer on a QB, they did the right thing.

DT, got the BPA on their board and also a need. Hopefully he works out far better than Collins and also Hill, but will see how he does in his 2nd year. We now have 7 DT if you include Crawford to compete in TC. He is fast, can stuff the run, rush the QB. Something we lacked for a long time.

Great draft, no complaints.

I don't see why Dallas couldn't march out the best 3WR set in the league at this point. I'm sure there's a chance that Lamb could be a "bust", but I'd bet against that all day long. Even better, Zeke/Pollard could see some VERY favorable matchups on Defense because of said 3WR set. I'm so excited. Enamored even.

I wanted Dallas to come out with some additional DLineman, and they did just that. Gallimore was a popular name that had been thrown about, though I wanted Davidson, I love Gallimores motor. Ironically enough, Anae has the same positive being said about his motor. I'd be willing to bet as well, that Bones will be ecstatic to have these kids on special teams.

I was I initially frustrated with the Center pick, though Dallas did perform a really smart trade to get him..and they would up getting my 5th round target anyway. Win-win baby.

If I were to "complain"..lol..I would have used a draft pick on a solid Punter..Mann..but that's a bit of a stretch. I am thrilled more about this draft than I have been in quite a long time. Hopefully Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb get reinstated with a fire and a skill set that could flip this Defense into a Top 5 unit.

Great things I foresee on the horizon boys and girls.

1B ???

It's two #1 WRs and another borderline #1 WR.

It lowers the need to a "stud TE". The TE will be the 4th option in the passing game and maybe 5th when Zeke or Pollard run pass routes.

They had 6 DEs on the 53 last season...

We just had an incredible draft. With our projected comp picks, next year we will have 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 7 to do it all over again!!
:yourock:

This is how it should go every year! No ridiculous gambles, reaches, headcases, injury risks, trade ups etc. just smart drafting. Specially with your top 3 picks. With 4 year contracts the gambles are stupid.
