2. Rashad Johnson FS Alabama- Ball hawk with leadership ability for the defensive backfield.

3. Connor Barwin LB Cincinnati- Played basketball and TE before switching to defense his senior year. Athletic freak that knows how to get after the QB. I think he's got alot of promise in pass coverage too. Could be a very good ILB with some coaching.

4a. Ron Brace NT Boston College- One of the best pure NT prospects in awhile. He knows how to plug up the middle of the line and let everyone else make plays.

4b. Andy Levitre OL Oregon St- He has played every position on the line in college, but his height will most likely keep him to the interior line in the NFL.

5a. Jeremy Navarre DL Maryland- Started off as a FB, but now plays both DE and DT. High motor guy that plays stout against the run and pass.

5b. Graham Harrell QB Texas Tech- Smart QB with plenty of game experience. Knows how to prepare for games and how to read defenses, as a backup I think he'd be pretty good for us.

5c. Dallas Reynolds OL BYU- Started all 51 games in his college career splitting time between LT and C.

6a. Antonio Dixon NT Miami- Was once a hot prospect, but he's had some trouble coming back from a knee injury. You can't teach his size, so if he can recover this could be a steal.

6b. Henry Melton DE/OLB Texas- Ray Crockett's nephew and an all-around intriguing prospect. Started off as a RB before switching to the DL. Currently plays DE but I think he could be a special teams stud and rush LB for us.

7a. Marcus McClinton FS Kentucky- Good size and speed for a safety, but he's battled through injury problems. When he's healthy he can be a difference maker, and he has been able to stay healthy lately. Could be another late round gem.

7b. Ryan Delrosal OT Dixie State- Drafted here for pure athletic ability. At 6'5" 317lbs he runs a 4.94 40 yard dash. Coming from a small school he'll likely need alot of work, but Houck is a good OL coach.

I'd be thrilled with Johnson, Barwin, Brace, and Dixon. Not so much with the other guys. Getting 4 guys out of a draft is good though.

One thing to watch on Rashad Johnson. My friend is a bigger draft nerd than me and he told me to go back and watch the tapes on Johnson. He doesn't feel he tackles well and isn't big on contact. After watching the Ravens debacle I do not want any more defenders who can't tackle.

Let me know if you guys notice the same thing.

Rashad Johnson is just a little bigger than Ed Reed he is going to wear down if he is played like a LB, he is smart as a whip, and seems to command attention from the guys playing around him. The reports on him are opposite of the little hits, all say he will play all out and maybe wear down if
kept up close to the line. this is from the huddle report

TALENT BOARD ROUND 1
Rashard should be able to get bigger and stronger. When he does, you will be able to bring him up in the box or leave him in single safety coverage. You are drafting Rashard right now for his instincts, brains, leadership skills and hard hitting tackling abilities. It's these intangibles that he brings to the game that are so unique and make him, in my mind, a player with a very short LTI. Rashard fits a two deep safety system like a hand fits a glove, but he will be able to play in just about any type of system you want in the near future. He reminds me a lot of Ed Reed (S Baltimore Ravens). Rashard might not be as fast, but he has the same type of ball hawking instincts as Reed does, which is what you look for in an impact safety.

Don't get me wrong, I like Johnson. Especially if he is able to be that ballhawk we so desperately need.

I notice when we knock passes up in the air they always hit the ground. Hamlin is usually standing around looking at someone. Watch a Ravens, Steelers, Colts game. If the ball is in the air, you expect to see Reed, Polamalu, or Sanders making a play. That's if they aren't the guy who obliterated the WR allowing the CB to make a play on the ball.

Whoever we get at safety...Rashad Johnson, Louis Delmas, Derek Pegues.. I hope it's an actual Free Safety.. and not a Strong Safety type..Michael Hamlin, Nic Harris, Patrick Chung. Although, I can live with Chung because of his speed and athleticism.

I love this draft and opinions due vary on Johnson. At one site that I read, they compare him to some safety from the Lions and it was not a big name either. I afraid that Brace will not last until the 4th round even though he it will be the 1st pick in the round. I think he will go in the 3rd unfortunately.

Big, slow DTs always seem to fall. He probably won't break 5.3 in the 40 if he runs and he's had nagging injury issues. To many people those are big drawbacks, but I think we're a perfect fit for him. He can be a 2-down player here because we've got plenty of interior pass rush with our nickel packages, and if he needs to take a breather, Rat can slide back over.
