Man of the day was Thomas Johnson-This guy shined today, what was best about him was his push...this guy was pumped today and showed a lot of energy....can he keep it up...we'll see...never heard of him before today...
Rogers is taking the lead at RT...not sure it says a lot at this stage but he is playing with more confidence. Tucker is struggling, he looks the part but is fading...too bad.
La Roi/Ferguson are strong in the middle and bring it every play. Their going to need to be since our LB's are all inexperienced (with the 3-4).
Sleeper-I like Ryan Fowler-ILB, every time I watch this kid, he is putting his helmet on somebody. Burnett looks the part too.
Ware will be good but up against Flozell, he certainly gets handled (for now). Flozell is a monster out there.
Tyson Thompson-I've not been on this bandwagon but came away thinking he is legit. Should make the Practice Squad and actually looks good enough to hop over someone at some point...overall the RB's look good JJ, Barber, A-Train, Bickerstaff, Thompson....even Polite was catching passes. If the O-Line holds up, we should be playing a lot of smashmouth this year...
Saddest site: Seeing Barnes trying to run the sprints on a bad wheel...he is going to be out of a job but you can't help but feel for the guy running so hard on one leg (held out of the scrimmage).
Petite-practiced today but was terrible...he's not recovered so he needs time to heal, probably much better then what he showed today...certainly has a big body and my guess is he could be a player down the road...but not now.
Peterman-ok, was locked up with Ellis a few times, Vollers-ok, was playing LT today, Gurode vs Johnson-seems pretty close right now with Al having a little advantage, they have to lock up with Ferguson and he does plug it up. Campbell played in the scrimmage. Tyson who? Walters is losing a job unless he turns it around real quick.
CB's-Vastly improved....we actually have depth here...glenn/TNew and Henry all did well plus Roy was coming up and being the missile that he is.
Davis vs Reese vs Scott- Scott was hobbling, Reese-ok, Davis seems to be around the ball. If we get pass rush this year, Davis may actually be the man as the rush will mask his inexperience and he has a knack for getting in the action.
Q/T. Glenn dropped passes but caught some too. Julius-Just keep him healthy, total stud.
Ratliff also was pretty impressive, should make the team. QB's-go to another thread and you can start the Henson/Romo debate. bottom line-Romo doesn't look good but certainly has the QB charisma and somehow moves the team (though not consistently), Henson looks unsure of himself and is losing confidence...we'll see what happens next week. Bledsoe was shaky...but I think he will be ready given more time.
Surprising site: Witten dropping a "TD" pass...the pass from Drew was not the best but you don't see JW drop many passes.
Larry Allen watch-the dramatic late entrance, the dramatic late finish on the sprints, can't help but watch LA. Chants of "Larry, Larry" as he waddles to the finish line. Still, last year at this time, he not only couldn't run but he was hobbling in camp...this year, he's not limping so to me that's a good sign. He is not what he was but he just needs to be solid and he is still better then most. I think he looks better then last year, at least during this time last year.
Pass Defense package: ellis, La Roi, Carson, Ware, burnett and Dat and db's...
Overall-Great to see all the Cowboy fans in SoCal. Not a bad scrimmage. Still too early to predict much of anything...both sides of the ball need work but the potential is there. Can't wait to be in the stands on Sept. 11th as Cowboy fans will pack the place up (even though the Chargers are trying to stick it to Cowboy fans with their ridiculous sales packages)...ahh but I digress....
